Clear Coat Damage, advice?

Hi all,

Below is a link (29KB) to a photo of my passenger's side headlight area. I have some clear-coat damage to the hood right above this area. The coat appears to be rippling above the base coat. This has been here for some time (~4 months) and doesn't appear to be spreading.

Does this appear to be clear coat damage?

What do you advise I do about it?

Thanks everyone,

It will need to be addressed eventually. The failed area appears to be fairly big. Occasionally you might run across small instances of failure, like chipping in tight areas such as the key cylinder or antenna. Small areas like that you may chance to float by without doing anything. Keep an eye on it, but if it were me, and if I were planning to hold onto the car, then I'd plan to have the hood stripped and re-cleared if possible. Good luck.

Does re-clearcoating the hood involve doing a total repaint (sanding, base coat, and clearcoat)?

Does anyone know, roughly, a range of pricing I should expect for such a job?

Hey I paint cars , & bikes on the side , I myself woud just wetsand that hod dwn only cutting the clear coat , then Just reclear it . Clear coat would run about $60.00 for the clear & about another $60.00 for other supplies including , sand paper , hardner , reducer . Also dont try to use a can !!!
