hatch struts install?

hey all, my hatch struts are dead....i can see that the b pillar side is held on with a torx, what about the hatch side? are there any specific things to look out for during the install?

On the hatch side, you have to remove a spring clip, then you can take the weight off the strut and pull it out. One strut will not hold the hatch up, so have something that you can prop it open with (or have a second person helping).

ill check it out when its not rainin....i did a search and didnt see much on the topic. one more question: are aftermarket struts usually ok or is that another part that falls into the "dont buy from advance" category?

A decent aftermarket part should be ok, IMO.

Be carefull of that Hatch, you don't want a couple of hundred pounds dropping on you. :o
