jawzforlife 02-11-2005, 01:05 PM I've been using Raybestos Superstop brakes on my all of my cars for as long as I can remember. I just but them on my Blazer and grand Prix GTP, and they have a loud squeak to them *like the pad is low). But they dont do the on my Camaro or pickup truck. Whats the deal, why are squeaking on the 2 cars? Should I get some different brake pads...any recommendations?

HAWK PADS OR GM PADS....both dont give off alot of brake dust either
b55baron 02-12-2005, 01:45 PM I bought my Camaro used and haven't replaced the pads yet but on my daily drivers (Sierra pick-up, Tahoe) I've been using Performance Friction Metallic pads from Autozone. They last a reasonable period of time and seem to produce less dust. They also have a lifetime guarantee. When they wear out, take them back, hand them the old ones, and they hand you new ones.
I'll go with something more high performance on the Camaro, but for daily drivers, the Autozone pads work well.
romoranger 02-12-2005, 02:03 PM mine squeek a ridiculous amount on my camaro, loud enough its over my stereo and my stereo is loud :o
one time i paid like 500 bucks for a brake job and got ripped off, squeaked soo bad..
one night i just had enough of it, and i drove with the pedal to the ground, brake pedal down hard, at about 25 mph untill the squeaking stopped :)
it did stop and my rotors werent warped :)
keep inmind this was on a blazer AND an impala
i wouldnt do that to my flimsy ass camaro rotors

stereomandan 02-14-2005, 11:53 AM If you haven't done so already, buy the grease that you are supposed to put on the back of the pads and the shims and antirattle spring. Did you do this? If not, that could very likely be your problem.
Some pads have a higher tendancy to squeel, but if your other vehicles are fine with those pads, I bet they just need to be greased.

I used this "gel" on the back off all my pads. You put it on and let it sit for 10 minutes and it makes a nice little cousin on the back of the pad...but the brakes still squeak.
romoranger 02-14-2005, 05:48 PM yeah, i greased the living.... something... out of my pads and they still squeek, but now that they are getting worn in the squeeking is less, which is kind of odd, i think
VegasZ 02-15-2005, 02:46 PM Get the VGX pads from Summit. VGX claims they dont squeak and they dont. Ive had them on my vert for years after having enough of the squeaky GM pads. My GF made me put some on her Beemer because the squeaking was driving her nuts and it solved her problem too.

I gave this a try on my blazer (but didn't put the brake all the way to the floor) and it looked like that might have solved it.
Now I just have to try it on my wife's GTP.
TobyZ28 02-15-2005, 05:23 PM I had raybestos pads and they squeeked as well. I tried everything including taking the pads off and cleaning them, filing the edges, Putting on the antivibration stuff on the back etc.. Ditched them for a set of cyramics. Not a peep now.
Raybestos = Crap as far as im concerned :)
JasonK94Z 02-17-2005, 11:54 AM They need to be called Raybestos Super Dust. Damn I hated them pads!

the blazer rotors are more heavy duty, i'd be careful doin it on GTP... glad it worked for ya though :)

TobyZ28 02-17-2005, 03:02 PM Yes the dust on them was UGLY!
The #2 reason i switched was because of the dust...
