If I remember correctly, some company is selling the 17x11's in pairs, so it's not that you couldn't get them, but I'd guess the reason for the deals you are finding is the fact that you'd be having hard time turning the front wheels if you had 17x11's over there.
Then again, what do I know...? :blah:

A lot of road-racers & autocrossers run 17x11 at all 4 corners. It works *very* well. I have heard that you need to run a 1/4" spacer up front to keep from rubbing.
I doubt you'll be able to find a "package deal" with 4 17x11s though...I bet (like someone mentioned) you'll have to pick them up in pairs...
good luck...

....Dunkchamp55, Consider the Kumo Ecsta Supra 712's. In the 275 x 40
x 17 size they are $108 {each} in the Jeg's Catalog. Tire Rack might be cheaper
but I've got a Jeg's Catalog sitting in front of me so I'm just going by that.
They are highly thought of as a good budget street cornering tire. Go check
out frrax.com for road racing info. I have run these tires in this size and was
pleased with the performance for the price...... Bill.....
Ok, Tire Rack sells those that size for $113, and the 285's for $$119. You'd want the 285's with 11" rims. Now I've also had the BF Goodrich T/A KD's and they were much better tires as far straight line traction and cornering but in the 275 size they run $238. I did hear that Cosco Wearhouse sells them cheaper but never checked the price...... Good luck, Bill....

I run 17x11's all the way around. I have no turning issues, the car handles like a go kart, and I get more compliments than I ever did with my 17x9.5's.
I use Sumitomo 315/35-17's on the street for $120 each. They are VERY sticky (160 treadware rating) and love them.
Most of us that autocross in ESP or SM classes use 17x11's all the way around. You want the max rim and tire combo that will fit on the front in order to maximize grip.
If you use a 36mm offset wheel in the front, you don't need a spacer, those are what I use. You could use a 50mm offset but you would have to use a spacer OR grind the bump off of the spindle arm. In the rear I use a 50mm offset with a 1/4" spacer.

17X11 all the way around would handle like a dream if you had the right tires.....yea it might need a little more input, but you'll be building up those arms so all the chicks will dig it.
I'd only do this if the car is an autocross car though....and not your point A to point B car

Your just beging for trouble with a rim that wide on daily.... wait till you hit a bumpy or broken piece of road... not a good idea... don't care what anyone says don't go over 9.5's in the front... as much as these cars wander the road... I couldn't imagine 17X11's al lteh way around... not to mention clearance issues you'll have to deal will.... even my 9.5's rub ocassionally and I'm using spacers at that....
Re: 17x11 on all 4's people come on in
I drive mine at least 60 miles a day, sometimes a lot more.
Everyone use to moan and talk about horror stories about how the car would get pulled all over the road, it would be too rough, it would scrape the fenders, blah, blah, blah. Maybe your roads, but not here.
The car actually rides better with the 315's and 11" wheels than it did when I had the stock 16x8's or my 17x9.5's. BTW, my 9.5's never rubbed with 275's and if yours do, you have the wrong offset wheel.
I would NEVER go back to anything smaller.
I use:
17x11 36mm offset in the front with no spacer
17x11 50mm offset in the rear with a 1/4" spacer.
I think I'm going to put the 36mm on the rear and the 50's with the spacer in the front. If I grind the little bump of the front spindle arm I can even get away with not using the spacer. ONLY on the worst bumps do I ever hear it scrape, and it's so minor you can even see it on the tires. My car sits about as low as it can go (25.75" in front and 26.75" in the rear) so it's the worst case scenario. A good alignment can help with the wander too.
