Would you buy a Camaro if they had no T-tops?

The thread about the Mustang coming out with T-tops and subsequent replies got me thinking. T-tops seem to very important to a majority of the people and of course there is a minority who do not like them.

Now T-tops have been around for most of the Camaro/Firebird life span, so IMO, they are are of signifigance.

But they do not make a Camaro/Firebird.
A RWD, 2+2, V8, coupe are the essential ingrediants. Everything else is just window dressing.

So--if the Camaro does ever return and does NOT have T-tops (or targa) would you still buy? Be honest. I can't see a (true) Camaro guy turning to Mustang for the sole reason of T-tops.

Would I buy a camaro w/o T-Tops? No. I don't necessarily USE them much, but because they're there.. I can. And I have before. It's cool and **** like that.

Would I go to mustang if they had T-Tops and the Camaro didn't (or isn't around).. No. The exterior of the mustang is great (Although I prefer a few things about the mustang concept a little more.. such as the taillights).. The interior sucks hard though, in my opinion. And it doesn't really have any sort of awe-inspiring power or anything...

I have T-tops & I like them, but I'd probably get more use out of a sun roof.

I would not rule it out buying a Camaro without T-Tops, but maybe I can better put it this way:

I would DEFINATELY pay for T-Tops on a new Camaro. If all that's offered is a Sunroof, I would keep my money... sunroofs are just about pointless, IMO.

I would possibly settle for a sunroof, but I wouldnt have bought my current car if it didnt have t-tops. 5th gen has to have something. Targa would be money.

Yes, I would buy a Camaro without T-tops. It's an awesome option though.

T-tops aren't a make-or-break deal for me I guess, but it's funny that I never considered what I'd do if a 5th Gen didn't have them. T-tops and Camaro have kind of gone hand-in-hand for as long as I can remember. Give me T-tops or give me nothing. Sunroofs really are pointless.

I voted yes. I have t-tops now, but I bought it used. If I could've found a hard top I would've bought that. I just hope that any new Camaro will at least have the option of having t-tops deleted. And no, I don't want a sunroof either. Just give me a hard top and I'll be happy.

Admittedly, I'm not your typical Camaro owner, but I at least recognize that other people can't live without t-tops. I think they should be an option if for no other reason than nostalgia.

I'd still buy one, provided it has 6speed/RWD/LS2

Re: Would you buy a Camaro if they had no T-tops?

T-tops... IMO they look like crap, scratch way too easily (if they're not glass, i.e. weigh a ton), evne the lexan ones weigh more than the sheet metal on a fixed roof, the seals have potential to leak after time (or if improperly installed at the factory) and they make the car's structure significantly less stiff. Give me the clean lines of a fixed roof hard-top Camaro anyday. Plus a stripe kit looks way better when it can run from the hood, over the *entire* roof and onto the trunk lit and spoiler .

But still nice to have the option for folks that want them... let's face it, some folks love their t-tops, and wouldn't by an f-bod without them.

Re: Would you buy a Camaro if they had no T-tops?

That's a tuffy. I went with no. That's not saying I'd buy a Mustang since I do not care for the styling. I'd just buy a used fbody and swap in the drivetrain if it's that good.

The tops off on a summer day or on the autox course... there's just not much that compares to it. Targa would be fine, too.

If this car didnt have t-tops it would have to be perfect in every other area to make up for it.

I'm in the same boat as you. If it is offered I will definatly get them. If not then its no big deal because no other car has Targa or T-tops in my price range.

I'm not 100% sure I'll get a Camaro if the Zeta GTO looks as good as the Woodward concept.

Yes. I like the more traditional hardtop better than T-tops or any other open top for that matter.

Re: Would you buy a Camaro if they had no T-tops?

I would not buy a new Camaro if it had t-tops. Make them an option(don't shove them down your throat like they did on the 98-02 Trans Am), as a lot of people would still want them.

I'm anti-t-top because the ones on my car leak and rattle. I'm convinced the whole t-top idea is flawed. The 68 Corvette was the first car to have them, yet after 30 years, we still can't build them to where they don't leak. I was thinking about doing some sort of stripe on my car, but then decided it would look horrible because of the t-tops. They are fun on a nice spring day, but I don't want to live with them 365 days a year for the 10 days of the year I take them out.
