ChevyTuffD.A. 01-31-2005, 07:20 PM U can get a general idea of what the stall speed of your converter is by holding the brake and giving it gas until the tires spin and whatever RPM they spin at is a close guess. This isnt the best or most accurate way to do it but itll work somewhat. Are u just trying to figure out if u have an aftermarket converter or what??? slowZ 01-31-2005, 07:28 PM yeah i think the original owner changed it and either didn't tune it, or done a poor job tuning it. ChevyTuffD.A. 01-31-2005, 07:48 PM well if its a reletivly higher stall then u could do the brake test and it will tell u, if its a stock stall then the tires should brake loose somewhere around 1600 rpm when holding the brake. I have heard about the OBD1 shifting issue with a higher stall, so check it out and let us know. 94zgreenmachine 01-31-2005, 08:03 PM Go to www.edgeracingconverters.com They have some good info on converters. Llyod Elliot recommended of three brands that an Edge converter is a good deal. He ranked them up there with Precision Industries Vigilante and Yank converters. They have a section that explains brake stall, true stall, etc, Good reading. 94zgreenmachine 01-31-2005, 08:06 PM click on the "basics" to get the 411 :D "White Knight" 02-01-2005, 04:50 PM Mash the gas see what it revs to before you really take off flying :D Or do the brake test. 92RS305#2 02-01-2005, 09:46 PM U can get a general idea of what the stall speed of your converter is by holding the brake and giving it gas until the tires spin and whatever RPM they spin at is a close guess.
