Speed2Much 01-31-2005, 06:39 PM I was going to pick up my paycheck and right when i switched over to a different expressway i was coming up the on ramp and getting over and a black car caught my attention in the far left lane and it evidently noticed me too and sped up to catch up to me. I love racing and it was the perfect spot where cops cant sit. So what else better could it of been but one of those brand new old style retro looking mustangs that just came out. It sounded like it had exhaust and it was black and if you like mustangs it might have been sweet but i cant stand them. I think they are rated around 300HP or so and i think he seen an older LT1 camaro and was thinkin maybe a 275-300hp car. My car looks pretty much stock except for lowering springs and 11 inch tires that stick out the back and a license plate that says SPD2MCH, hehe. So He pulls up beside me and gets on it and I let him go first and he gets like a nose on me then i hit it and spun the tires at 60 and got about 8 cars on him in a couple seconds! His face looked funny when he looked over when I went WOT cuz without cats and a huge cam its pretty loud specially through my hooker exhaust. I looked in my mirror and just seen him put his blinker on and get behind me lol. Well hope you enjoyed the story and if your that mustang owner that got smoked on I-76 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Get a real car ;) :D
unvc92camarors 01-31-2005, 08:31 PM haha, i can just picture his face
that had to make his day
"an old camaro beat my fricken new mustang"
although i must say, it was a little lopsided sounds like;)
Antz97ZNJ 01-31-2005, 08:49 PM HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Get a real car Ahh everything was great until that comment...FYI the new GT'S can outrun a LT1 w/ ease stock for stock, so Id say If a LT1 is a real car then so are the new GTs... Not fair to pass judgement on a probably stock or pretty damn near stock car when you have the amount of mods you do. Anyways good kill
BTW saw some chick driving a black 05 today, first time I got a real upclose look of the car in motion  I love em!
Speed2Much 01-31-2005, 09:56 PM BTW saw some chick driving a black 05 today, first time I got a real upclose look of the car in motion  I love em!
Well a girl driving a black 05 GT is pretty hot.. really a girl driving any sport car is hot. In that situation then I can say thats a real car cuz a mustang fits a girl driver. :D In defense of the real car thing, it might be better to compare the stock new GT to the newer LS1 camaro's. But I still think a stock LT1 Would be pretty close to a newer mustang anyways, not to mention the LT1's are more than TEN YEARS OLDER! ;) . I have seen stock LT1's run 13.8's. What do the new GT's run?
GPZ28 01-31-2005, 10:47 PM If the new GT's are trapping 99 or 100 and an lt1 traps around the same, how does a GT outrun the lt1 with ease?
My buddy is getting a new GT this week so I will rip him a new one and then report back how bad it was for him later :D
Bersaglieri 01-31-2005, 11:02 PM Good kill, I cant wait to get ahold of one. I saw one today I thought I might have a great story to tell but it was a V6. In the pics I have seen they look ok, but on the road I really wasnt impressed with the looks. But looks differs from person to person. Each to his own.
Chalk up another Ohio F-body kill! Seems like there is alot of racing our the highways in NE Ohio.

Actually they are about the same, it'd be a driver's race. Definitely wouldn't outrun an LT1 "with ease."
Mikie 02-01-2005, 09:59 AM I dont think properly driven they are all that even.
The new GT is very close to my Mach stock and Ive raced 2 LT1s and had a solid 2 car lead crossing the finish line...back when I was stock.
Just last month before the track closed there was a guy in a new GT with only 180 miles on the ticker  He made two passes and his best was a 8.55 @ 80 mph
Whats the avg ET on an 1/8th mile LT1? 9.0s to maybe a 8.70 best.
Not saying anything is slow just giving Ford their due on the new GT.
I dont like it anymore than you guys because before my mods on the 32V the GT was right there with me.
Antz97ZNJ 02-01-2005, 07:57 PM Actually they are about the same, it'd be a driver's race. Definitely wouldn't outrun an LT1 "with ease."Its far from a drivers race...last time I checked most stock LT1's dont even break into the 13's...the new GTs have ran stock times as low as 13.3's already...and please no LT1 knowledge...Ive owned and modded 2.
GPZ28 02-01-2005, 08:16 PM maybe I dont see stock lt1's anymore. they prob all have some mods right
My buddies 97ss ran high 13's at 100 or so, but I guess that was a 305hp car.
Dale 94 TA GT 02-01-2005, 08:49 PM When my 94 LT1 was bone stock it ran 8.52@80 in the 1/8. Well I did have a ram air hood on it at that time. It was also in cool weather, can't rememaber the temp but it was pretty cool for south alabama.
Steve Y 02-01-2005, 10:13 PM GMHTP got a 13.4 at 102 out of a bone stock LT1. So it looks like the new GT is a drivers race with an LT1.
were they running slicks?
nj87ttype 02-02-2005, 12:02 AM A couple years ago I owned a 94' Z28 which was completely stock & ran a 13.9 first time to the track.
96m6lt1 02-02-2005, 12:32 AM HMMM i left sea level in 96 prior to that ALL lt1 cars were running 13:8 and faster on radials even the pos gsc tires they left the factory with.as for the new STANG it is sweet it deserves props for the styling(retro-look)if i had the money and i was not building 2 lt1's and an s10 iwould definately go and pick out a sexy blue colored one, bring it to michigan so jon moss & mark mcphail can set me up with an ls2 and have the baddest retro stang
I sure hope chevy brings that retro69 into production,(sighhh) :(
Steve Y 02-02-2005, 10:51 AM were they running slicks?
On the 13.4 at 102 LT1 run? No. BONE stock.
Steve Y 02-02-2005, 10:53 AM HMMM i left sea level in 96 prior to that ALL lt1 cars were running 13:8 and faster on radials even the pos gsc tires they left the factory with.
Those GSC tires are one of the best sticky tires ever to come on the Camaro from the factory. They are no drag radial, but they are a pretty good tire, if you don't mind dismal mileage out of them. :( I saw 12K miles out of a set on the '93 in sig. They were bald as a baby's behind.
96m6lt1 02-02-2005, 11:10 AM oh yeah those tires were waaaaay better than the gatorslips that my91z28 came with, however to get good traction with the GSC's was a challenge at sea level running 13.8s the 60' was 2.00-1.90,drag radials brought it down to 1.8's @13.4 @104(1994 z28)only mod was no air filter at the track.
ChevyTuffD.A. 02-02-2005, 03:59 PM When my 94 LT1 was bone stock it ran 8.52@80 in the 1/8. Well I did have a ram air hood on it at that time. It was also in cool weather, can't rememaber the temp but it was pretty cool for south alabama.
When i first saw that i said no way. That is amazing for a stock lt1. Especially since my car with the mods in sig minus gears and tune only went 8.76 at like 79.8. I give my 2.73's the blame on that one. But still, 8.50's stock is hard to swallow.
Bersaglieri 02-02-2005, 08:17 PM On a stock LT1 the GSC's hold pretty well. I pulled 2.0-1 60's my first time to the track with no burn out. But after I added a few mods, well the rear GSC's are gone now, lets just say that ;)

newkoba 02-03-2005, 10:06 AM i used to do consistant 13.3s with my lt1 when i had just a cold air intake and crappy tires. lt1s seem to normally be poorly driven and under-rated.

Next time post something worth a ****

Mikie 02-03-2005, 08:49 PM Yeah...
Like some low 13 second LT1 stock storys. I just waitin for someone to reply that has run 12s in a bone stock LT1. Makes for good reading.
Tim was just adding his two cents after the thread starter said " Get a real car " I just cant find any dealerships selling those real cars anymore.
Bersaglieri 02-03-2005, 08:52 PM I dont totally agree with the "get a real car." But sarcastic comments like that is what causes a stupid arguement. No need.

So it looks like the new GT is a drivers race with an LT1.Yea ok lol, you keep telling yourself that...New GT manual should be good for atleast a mid 13 seeing that some of the old ones hit 13.7's stock...Your everday LT1 is gonna come no where near a 13.4 stock...
1BadAzzGT 02-04-2005, 06:46 AM Your such a badazzz!

< yawn > you can do better then that. :D :D
Speed2Much 02-04-2005, 09:56 AM lol, if I knew it was goina be that big of a deal I woudlnt of posted the get a real car comment but I feel its my job to pick on the mustang owners or what fun would that be if we all just got along?! :D :D
yellavette 02-04-2005, 02:54 PM While I agree that the average LT1 isn't a low-mid 13 sec car.....according to what I found on the net neither is the new GT. C&D puts it at 13.8@102...motortrend puts it at 13.7@99 mph (weird). So I'd still say it's a drivers race with a slight edge to the stang.

Jasonsince when did anyone start going by car & drivers times...For example they ran a 05 GTO to a 13.4@108....head on over to ls1gto.com...guy ran a 12.8@108 w/ a 2.1 60....thats just an example of how inaccurate they are.

MarcoZ 02-05-2005, 10:53 PM NOt to rob your post or anything but from what I read I came to the conclusion that a stock lt1 and stock 05 gt are pretty close, if so, a stock ls1 vs stock 05 gt the ls1 would win???
Bersaglieri 02-06-2005, 12:22 AM Average Stock for stock: LS1 eats 05 GT eats LT1. Drivers and transmissions being equal. Isolated cases may vary.
-Dustin-
myslowcamaro 02-09-2005, 07:54 PM how do they stack up with a ls1?
