You're talking about the F1 GS-D3's right? If so, I agree. Best tire I've ever owned.

Which F1s??

I doubt it. He's probably refering to the F1 Supercar tires, or if top-speed runs are his thing, the F1 GS tires. The GS-D3 are a decent tire, but mostly for show... that's why they're so cheap. ;)

Open Road Racing teams are told on several courses to avoid long-block tires like the GS-D3 or the Yokohama AVS Sports (which look tight IMO), since the reduced surface area doesn't provide as much cooling... which causes problems at high speeds ( over 30 minutes and at least 140+ mph for every class they run :-O)

GS-D3 look good and stick well in the rain, but for pure "stick" I'd wager he's talking about the supercar meats... those things are as close to drag-radials as you'll get in a Z-rated tire.

Why don't you check out his signature. I guess he and I will just stick with our "cheap" tires

ZaneO how do you like your cheap tire, I know how stereomandan feels. I am looking into a set for my SS wheels. Worth the extra dime?

I am very happy with my GS-D3s. 4th set of tires I've had on this car, and they are by far the best. Great wet and dry traction.

Since I am nosey, what others have you had? Also how is wear, I got about 30k out of stock GSC's, think I can sqeeze that out of these?

BTW Awesome looking car, I saved your page in my favorites long ago. Very nice looking.

Thanks for the compliment!

I have had GS-Cs, Road Huggers, Nitto 450s and drag radials, Eagle F1s, GS-Cs, and now these.

So in other words they are worth the extra dime over cheaper ones. How do they wear compared to the GSC's and others?

I have only had them for about 5000 miles, so I can't comment on wear.

Definitely worth the money, IMO.

In my opinion, yes they are worth every penny.

Tell me what you are looking for in a tire, and the F1 GS-D3 does it well, except drive in the snow. :)

I've had mine for about 7,000 miles, and to be honest, can hardly tell that that they are wearing. I'm easy on my tires though. No burnouts. I do take corners aggressively though, and they are holding up great there.

They are quiet, a HUGE plus, especially if you've ever owned a pair of noisy tires before.

Rain performance is incredible, and there are lots of reviews of the tire that prove this.

Dry traction is great. It's not a drag radial, nor is it meant to be. They can handle severe cornering maneuvers with ease.

If there was one area where this tire is average, it would have to be in the initial turn in. Not slow, but not lightning fast. It's not something I've felt was lacking though.

The tread design is very cool looking, as is the sidewall.

Hope that helps.

I have cut mid 1.8's with my F1's on my Lightning...pretty good tires IMO.

Good review stereomandan and testimony cantonracer.

I have been thinking of doing a long tire review thread where everyone posts about what tires they have owned and write a description. No hear say just what you have owned, how they wear, dry, wet, corner, etc. That way we dont see 11 posts a day with "hey what tire?" Tire rack's reviews are nice, but I have to search down the list to find one with a Z or Vette so I know how they handle real world TQ and HP though the elements. I am going to try my best to get some GS-D3's. I figure if I can get 30k out of GSC's I could get more from GS-D3's.

I'm also running the Eagle F1 GS-D3's (255/45R17 up front with 285/40R17 rear). I've only had them about a week, but so far, I'm loving them. Granted, my last set of tires were nothing to brag about, so these easily surpass my expectations.

I guess I'll see how they look in another 10K miles. Wear ratings were good at Tirerack's site. Thus far, as an initial impression, I'd definitely recommend them. Take that with a grain of salt...

I am liking the thread rating also. I am hoping to get more from the GS-D3's than my GSC's since they are 280 to 220 respectively.
