What are some of the 1/4 mile times you guys are running with the Holley Stealthram. And what do you think a good cam is to run with this manifold on a 350L98?

And what do you think a good cam is to run with this manifold on a 350L98? kandied91z 01-30-2005, 05:54 PM i wouldn't go off of times as it depends on too much. what is your car running now in the 1/4 that would be a better dependant. that intake is great. if it weren't so tall it would be the best intake out there. for the price you can't beat it, but it also depends on what your expecting out of the motor. klumb15 01-30-2005, 06:37 PM i would have to say it is the best replacement intake for a TPI motor...the issue of it being too tall, its not really that tall, but its tall enuf, and if you have a stock hood, you can cut out a little 8x4 inch section and have it clear a stock hood...quarter mile times are based on so many things, but holley did tests and it showed by just swapping the intake from a TPI 350 to the stealth ram they gained 62 HP...thats a huge amount, add that with a cam and headwork and your up in the 400 HP range in no time... robvas 01-31-2005, 08:26 AM Did you check out www.stealthram.com? krazzycowgirl 01-31-2005, 12:27 PM the issue of it being too tall, its not really that tall, but its tall enuf, and if you have a stock hood, you can cut out a little 8x4 inch section and have it clear a stock hood Ya had to cut??? It still has awsome oil pressure (60+ psi when cruising in low rpms). As long as I keep from over reving I'm hoping I'll be ok. If I get ballsy, I might even toss a 100 shot on. So I take it you went with heads too right? I have heard that torqueing heads down can disrupt the bottom end enough to cause spun bearings. I've heard of people doing a heads/cam/intake upgrade and then dumping a rod not long after (more stress due to almost doubling the power output,) but there's no way a simple intake change can cause main bearing problems. That minor of an upgrade won't cause a problem unless the engine is already borderline anyway. Of course it's true that you wouldn't have spun bearings if you had built the bottom end. The bearings would all be new and the clearances would be perfect (I would hope.) But who's to say it wouldn't have spun them if you had left the intake stock? krazzycowgirl 02-01-2005, 04:29 PM True the car did have 132k Miles on the car but I ran the car a year on the track before taking it in for computer work with little problems of while running the car. A year on the track with a STOCK 132k bottem end is just asking for problems. Alot of extreme duty work will definitely take its toll on your engine especially if STOCK and hi mileage. If your just gonna be on the STREET I wouldn't be concerned, If your gonna race it, be prepared for a rebuild in probably a year. My 2c This car has been my race car for 4 years (it does maybe 8 races a year) & up until last year the car was 100% stock. when we decided to change the intake on the car.
