Single Plane or Large Plenum Front-Inlet Intake Manifold for FI?

I've seen both run before.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of running a single plane with a 90* and a throttle body over a sheetmetal or modified stock manifold with a larger plenum? I know the fitment issues, but let's talk about performance.

Intmd8 was last running a sheetmetal LT1 intake by RGR that he may have done a bunch of work to, maybe he will chime on on what he ran prior... LT4 intake?

There's an interesting article in last month's MM&FF magazine (I'm not a traitor - just a spy) in which they tested a Vortech at 14 psi in an '03 Cobra motor both with the stock Cobra intercooler/intake, then with a Vortech Aftercooler and '01 intake. The difference is that the '01 intake has much longer runners than the factory SVT supercharged intakes. The long-runner '01 intake offered 60 more hp and 60 more ft-lb torque. Based on that, I'd lean towards the single plane due to the longer runners.

How much of that do you think was because of the Vortech cooler? Either way, good information to know.

The core for the Vortech aftercooler is roughly the same size as the SVT intercooler in the manifold.

Havent ran the stelth ram with boost yet but hopping to very soon. The plenum area is close to what the modded LT4 but the runners are 4.8 inches longer. Should hope to have some numbers mid to late Feb.

Which would you guys think is more important, the runner length or the plenum volume?

Dennis, good to hear it's coming together! You engine dynoing it again? If so, where at?

Although somewhat muted in FI applications, it is important to consider seriously, both aspects. Also, AFAIC, important to not pick out just one aspect, of an intake manifold proven to be effective. That manifold reminds me of another manifold.
