Fresh LT1 and not sure what to do

So here's my dilemna:
My low mileage, well kept '97 Z with a fresh motor and exhaust, gets smashed. The car is gone but I still have the motor. I'm selling it at the moment, here's the link on it: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=335432

I have the option to keep the motor, and find a worthy car. 1st choice would be a 92-96 corvette so the swap would be easy. Another tempting option is an old 60's Chevy convertible. These projects always take longer than and cost alot more in the end than you plan for, and even then is it 'done'?

I'm going crazy deciding to build a fun but completely useless hot rod, or just go for the car I really want, a C5 convertible. You can't count on the insurance company to do the right thing, so the only way that happens is if I recoup some money from this motor.

Just curious on peeps' thoughts: Hot Rod or C5 vert?

Umm tough choice. Both would nice, but i think i would have to lean towards the C5 vert. Very nice cars to being with and LS1. Good starting point for some modifications. :D

how bout you find a nice low miles 3rd gen like an iroc?

sweet body style, good handling, cheap to buy and the LT1 fits pretty easy

Teke184 idea sounds like a good idea. IROCZ or TA GTA with a LT1.

I had an 86 TA for a long time. I loved the car, but one nice thing about this hobby is the diversity. I could just buy another 4th gen LT1 car, but I want something different. I saw a 68 camaro convertible project for a few thousand...That's what I'm thinking would be a hot project...

I am with you about diversity. The problem is that the LT1 has been stuck in just about anything with wheels so coming up with an original idea is difficult at best. IMHO, you can't go wrong with any generation of f-bodys for this project.

Good luck!

if money wasnt an object id put it in a first gen. otherwise, any other gen would be cool too.
