Everyone sign please.

I have been pulled over for a front plate already and it was such a pain in the ass. First the tropper pulled me over for no other reason than to tell me I needed a front plate. Not to mention he was a total ass about it the whole time, askng me to step out of the vehicle amoung other things. He even had me go to the front of the vehicle to confirm that there was no plate even after I admitted to knowing I didnt have one. I was doing 5 under the speed limit with belts on all passengers of the car. What a shame when someone has to be embarrassed infront of their peers and inconvenienced for not having a peice of metal on both sides of their car. I then had to report back to his station over an hour from my home. This was after I asked him if I could just go to the station 10 minutes from my home. Aboslutely unnecessary. Abolish this law please.

I have no clue as to how many need on to abolish it, but the more the better. I wish I knew a way around it. I am thinking about writing my Governor or someone. Any ideas?

i think it's a really really great number
i remember the number 80,000 or 800,000 in regards to something else, as in signatures needed in a state
i've been pulled over for it too (and told about it a few other times)although i've been lucky enough not to have to do anything about it
i'll sign though, it'd be something less to get lectured about:)

front license plates suck a fat one. I am glad i am in GA now with my OH tags. lol. The best thing to do with them on the camaro is to use the front air damn and put it on that. no biggie and it is legal. Thats what i did when i lived there.

BTW, the Z is for sale. Sad but i need the money. A new Z06 will be forthcoming as the next performance vehicle. Maybe a few years. :)

SIGNED!!! I just got pulled over for no front plate and tinted windows... they just let me go though after i showed them my military ID :D We need a petition for tinted windows too... how do we start that cuz thats even more rediculous than the front plate law. Cops follow me all the time, i had a trooper follow me to my house the other day. Its 30 degrees outside so its a long ride home with my windows down :D

Exactly. I was going to do tinted windows this summer, but I figured when winter rolled around I'd be driving around with my windows down half the time. Both should be abolished, especially tint laws, since removing the restriction would save 1000's from skin cancer each year :D

From the American Skin Association:

The shorter wave length of UVB rays keeps them from penetrating glass. UVA rays do penetrate glass, presenting a threat to people riding in cars. Fortunately, automobile occupants are not completely at the mercy of UVA rays because the plastic interleaf of the front windshield (which keeps it from shattering) absorbs most of the UVA radiation. But the side and rear windows offer no such protection. Children are especially at risk because they sit in the back.

Factory-installed solar tinted glass absorbs less than 10 percent of UV rays, but a variety of both tinted and clear automobile window films purport to protect car occupants from most UVA radiation without altering the light transmission of factory glass. The idea of a transparent protective window film that answers a vital health consideration has compelling appeal.

tint is something i'm glad we have laws with
keeps officer's lives protected to an extent
although i still break that law (go figure right :D ) i roll down my windows prior to that person coming up and make sure my hands are on the steering wheel or somewhere in plain view just so i don;t get too much crap about it

Signed as #1045. I got a ticket for it last summer, so i bent the top and bottom of the plate and mounted it under the front bumper. You cant really see it and it scrapes on everything but if i ever get pulled over for it again im going to tell the sob to kiss my ass because its thier.

I've been driving without a front plate on my car for 11 years now in OH, was pulled over twice for not having a front license plate in that time frame. I keep the 2nd plate under my seat and explain to the officer that there is no way I am going to drill holes in the front of my car. Both times they've sympathized and let me go with a verbal warning. My wifes car hasn't had a front plate for about 5 years now and we've never had a problem (looking for some wood to knock on!!). I signed the petition, $100 fine is crazy!

Quite an old thread; more than 2 1/2 years since it started. Anyway, getting rid of the front plate isn't going to happen. Law enforcement wants the plates there for obvious reasons regardless of the arguments. Do a search and you will find out how the proposal has been received. :death:
