True duals legal in California?

I was just wondering if it would be legal if I put a true dual exhaust on my 2000 Camaro SS in California. I would keep both cats and basically modify everything in back of them. Either an X or H pipe and a couple of Dynomax bullets.

No true duals set up would be legal, it moves the stock cat's location. Almost all mods are technically illegal in Cali

Can't I just leave the cats where they are and replace everything behind it? Would that be legal?

Not true-If you don't move the location of the cats, you are fine. If you "accidentally" damaged them, you could even install some high-flow cats in the stock location, as long as they were CARB legal. I think the Random Tech cats are.

As long as you do not move or alter the cats, you can do whatever you
want after them.

Yeah if you don't move the cats you could probably get away with it, although some states do have rules about where the exhaust exits, so stopping underneath before the axle may not pass. Although if this is what you want then do it and try it, its very easy to extend them over the axle. All you would have to do is buy that flex metal pipe they sell at the auto store its around 10 bucks for a 6 ft section, then just go under there and hook it up and out. I almost did this to mine just so the noise would be less inside, but after hooking up the the pipes I didn't find enough noise reduction to actually hook them up perminetly

Do you not have to remove the y-pipe to do "TRUE DUALS" if so I dont see how you couldnt move the location of the cats???
