SABLT194 01-13-2005, 06:43 AM Ok what's the plan everybody? Here's mine
Yanked motor due to lousy oil pressure, Rebalance my forged rotating asembly and will be tightening up some bearing clearances. Install Canton pan. Dropped a valve guide at end of season so I'm getting Phil to do a set of heads for me. Re-doing exhaust so I can run thru bullets and cutouts at the track and nice quiet exhaust on the street. Fresh Motive 4:10's. Going back to posi (from a spool) in an attempt to get some street miles this spring. Fabbing a 4" CAI and ditching MAF (will program Speed Density).
Let's hear em!
5SPDCHK 01-13-2005, 07:51 AM Garage projects or house projects?! :D
Too many, none the less!
His Monte:
The original plan over the summer was to cut up the firewall and put a friend's BBC in it to run the Q8 class at Atco. There wasn't enough time and the rules changed for next year (eliminating the cubic inch max) which makes it damn near impossible for them to qualify. So, the BBC has to come back out and the SBC back in. We're thinking that's probably not going to happen this winter.
My Nova:
It's almost done! It's running and he has a few more things to do with it to be track worthy. The NHRA guy has to come out to certify the chassis (should be running high 9's) and it needs a TON of cosmetic work. I'm not really worried about that this year though. Perhaps that will be next winter's project.
Jeeps:
He stumbled on an amazing deal on a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a blown engine. He used to work at a Jeep dealership and just so happens to have a NEW 4.0 I6 Jeep engine. It needs some minor body work too but nothing big. The head is at the machine shop right now and he's putting a towing cam in it so I will be able to tow my nova with it. The black one is for sale (see sig).
Saturn:
Will someone buy this thing already??!! :D
;)
kazman 01-13-2005, 09:09 AM Engine machine work should be done today. Added 4 bolt mains, Crower crank and rods. Heads were treated to new guides and cleaned up. Engine assembly the next 2 weeks then install and testing, hopefully mid Feb if the weather allows. A weight loss was planned. Currently the race weight is 3600lbs. The car should run low 11's high 10's with the diet. The Grove is talking of lowering the cutoff to 11.5 in street. If this happens I'll just keep the car as is and run street and heavy. Last year I was running mid 11's so it will be perfect to run on a 11.5 dial in the street class.
Steve , didn't see ya last season. Maybe this year.
unvc92camarors 01-13-2005, 12:19 PM well, not this winter, but next winter i plan on homeporting the heads on my z28 (after a practice set first:) ) then throwing a cam into match with it
headers i'll have hopefully on sometime during the summer, but if not, you can add that to the list for winter projects:D
you guys all sound like you're way past me though
rskrause 01-13-2005, 01:28 PM The Camaro will not be out this year as I am putting my time and $$$ into the race car. It's a 27T with a fairly mild BBC running alcohol. I have freshened up the motor and rebuilt the tranny and it's all back together and installed. My friend did the carb and heads. Since I suck at wiring, I am having that done by a pro. It's really almost ready to fire up. Another friend is doing the paint. It will be ready to go by May 1. Then I will start on the Z, which needs a rebuild.

SABLT194 01-13-2005, 08:56 PM Jim,
I ran points for 1/2 the season at the Mountain and then went on 2 week vacation to Canadian Rockies. I was 3rd in points when I left. When I got back I just had too much other stuff going on to get to the track regularly and didn't even make a pilgramage to the Grove. I've decided not to run points this year at all. I will just travel to different tracks when I get the urge and the weather is favorable. I also plan on running with the Pro-Stick guys a couple of times. I ran with them last year once and it was a hoot! Their payout was really good too, plus they didn't care at all that I couldn't yank the front wheels 3 or 4 feet :D
I'll hit the Grove this year fo-sho

foff667 01-14-2005, 03:35 PM im just trying to get my gtp's tune right and dats about it :)
97TransAm 01-14-2005, 09:45 PM I was planning on headers and exhaust, but a leaking pipe in the second floor... looks like a whole new bathroom for Carol after having to rip out the vanity, toilet and half the floor up to correct, plus the dining room ceiling. None of which does the Trans any good going down the track. Really pisses me off.
Something about the need to take showers and what not over "a car".
Jason Short 01-14-2005, 10:32 PM My Formula is running a solid roller motor now, but will probaby just hang out for a while until I get the time to finish the 396ci solid roller setup for it. I am undecided on heads, but might go with some GM 615s (15 degree head).
The convertible is what I am focusing on finishing right now. Its a 355ci, ported heads by me, HOT cam (for driveability), and mabye a little spray.

RacinLT1 01-15-2005, 12:46 AM well,where should i start....
ever since i snapped the output shaft of the 4l60e over a year ago,the car has been gutted. Tubular front end, madman aluminum lca/phb out back,Tbraked th400 going in,383 is built, dfi is here, need a fuel cell, lost stock tank, run the fuel lines, wire the dfi, finish the cage, get motorplates, buy a new hood.....dear god...and somehow hope to have this all done by may 19th...
GREGG 97Z 01-17-2005, 12:32 PM Nothing major this winter, swapped the 9" for the 12 bolt that I wanted the other month and got that all installed and working right, that was my biggest project. Just doing some small things to it right now, some ES motor mounts and some other bushings. Getting a set of those new M/T drag radials and some new back wheels for the track so I can try some bigger launches. Still waiting on our new house and to move this spring so any big plans for the car are on the back burner until thats all done.
Projectz28 01-18-2005, 06:42 PM well right now my car is sitting on jack stands in the garage waiting for me to get back to work on it. I just ordered a ton of stuff for it but no real go fast parts. I bought all new ultralite gauges and put the car on a "cheap" diet. Basically if its not helping in going straight or going fast its now sitting on the floor;). I still have to pull the trans for a refresh and while its out the converter is going back to Yank for a cleaning/inspection and restall. I will be ordering all the parts to rebuild the 12 bolt I have (spool and going back to 3.73's) Hopefully when its all over I will have enough money to buy a new tq arm to replace my slightly twisted stocker  . I hope to be able to try out some nitrous this year but it just depends on where I end up with all the other projects on the car and around the house.
N20Dave 01-19-2005, 12:48 AM I can't even begin to list everything but the car will look very much the same as last year but will be radically different inside. 1100+ flywheel hp and a full cage are about all I'm gonna say right now ;)

You need to edit that post to say "A full cage w/ an unbent dash bar  "
N20Dave 01-19-2005, 11:04 AM Boy that unbent dash bar has got you all bent out of shape
(It's an inside joke folks)

What has be all bent out of shape is you bought a product based on the pictures in the company's installation photo page. That clearly shows a bent dash bar, but not the one you received. It'll work w/out it being bent, but I'm guessing that dash is going to be "clearanced" a lot more w/ the unbent dash bar.
Later,
Steve.
N20Dave 01-19-2005, 01:31 PM My bad. I guess I should have flown to Texas and looked at it first :Owned:

It would've saved you the aggrevation of hearing about it from me over the course of the entire install :o
convertz 01-25-2005, 01:07 AM The aerochamber just went on and I think it is time for headers, CAI and mabee some suspension like LCA's and subframes
mabee the car will be a little more beastly when spring rolls around :D
JSkeet 01-25-2005, 01:20 AM thinking of pickup up one of the second gens down the street from my house.
gotta sell the '84 and if i get a second gen project it will probably be mostly body work and save save save for a crate w/ a warranty so i cant screw anything up too bad.
