Merry Christmas to me, soon as I went home for the break and took my car onto the street for the first time since Sept..Im all "yehh Im gonna go cruising with some old friends ..YAH BASS!.."
:( within 5 minutes my sub started crapping out lol.. and then nothing.
Took it in to the guy who installed it, sorta sketchy bout him so I thought Id ask this crowd... he said I need a new sub.
I mean it's probibly blown, but after only 2 years? Its (err was) a Pioneer 10'' running on a 300watt Pioneer amp
To boot-- my batt died the next night. apparently corroded and humped out, then replaced. Would that mess up my stereo? Dumb question worth asking... every dude in my family are car buffs but know nada bout systems......

A bad battery wouldn't have any affect on you condition of your speakers.
If your car was left out and unused long enough to kill your battery my geuss is that your sub is blown do to moisture. Once you get a little rust throught the centre of the voice coil the speaker is pretty much done. Being a Pioneer sub doesn't help the situation either. I would stick to a higher quality sub like an Alpine Typr "R" or a JL Audio W3 series sub for a 300 watt stereo. The prices may be a little higher but your getting top quality.

I don't think it's moisture, cuz it was parked the entire time in a heated garage (forgot to mention)
Maybe just cranking up the bass too much ( I never did it till it was distorted...always sounded great.)
Anyone know where I can score some good prices on decent subs?

Anyone know where I can score some good prices on decent subs? Jen, you need a hard hitting sub being the club girl that you are. I highly recommend the JL Audio 10" W6v2, the incredible thump from this sub makes your head tingle. It doesn't cost that much, can be had at getsounds.com for 30% off for 3 bills US. I have the 10" W6v2 from JL Audio in my hawk with total JL Audio replacement speakers and JL Audio subs with Alpine IVA-D900 dvd multimedia center, I couldn't be happier with the picture or the sound. So pimp your ride girl. ;)

Im still in a confused state for now.. My uncle passed away and had an origional and good condition 89 Z24 as a 2nd car. I'm seriously thinking about getting it for now, fixing it up a bit, selling my 98..saving/investing a few grand, and you all know my next car ambition after grad by now.
