I noticed that neither the 06 Impala or MC have a chrome bar on the front of them. Last I recall this was somewhat of a concern with looks of the new Camaro. (atleast with me) Any thoughts or opinions on this?

No Chrome Bar95redLT1 01-06-2005, 07:33 PM I noticed that neither the 06 Impala or MC have a chrome bar on the front of them. Last I recall this was somewhat of a concern with looks of the new Camaro. (atleast with me) Any thoughts or opinions on this? 30thZ286speed 01-06-2005, 07:48 PM From what I can tell is maybe Chevy decided to only use the chrome bar theme with trucks and SUVs. Or the may be doing away with it all together. The spy shots I've seen of the redesigned Tahoe don't have a chrome bar, but it could have been a GMC version. Either way I am glad its gone from the cars. Big Als Z 01-06-2005, 10:22 PM Chrome bar is something that was left over from the end of the last design team. Lutz had put a stop to it after the Malibu. formula79 01-06-2005, 10:37 PM What's funny, is both the Impala and Monte look like they were designed with intentions of the chrome bar....but it was dropped at the last minute... Big Als Z 01-06-2005, 10:39 PM Ahaha...I said the same thing the other day..."you can see where they wanted to put the chrome bar..." AronZ28 01-06-2005, 10:57 PM Thank goodness the chrome bar is gone. Every car it was put on it looked afwul. I also hope it goes away on trucks and SUV's. Its getting to the point of being very stale and played out. I mean its only been on the trucks for 20+ years. jg95z28 01-07-2005, 11:33 AM I thought the chrome bar added a sort of refinement, say elegance to the Chevies with them on their front noses. The new versions, minus the chrome bar, do seem to have an obvious space for them and do suggest they were a last minute drop. This gives them more of a brutish look IMO. Funny, I kind of like the new brutish look. It kind of says, "don't mess with me!" :D Jason E 01-07-2005, 11:52 AM I love it, too. I hated the chrome bar, truck or car. Glad to see its hopefully dying! Z28Marcus 01-07-2005, 12:10 PM Buh bye chrome bar... don't let the door hit you on the way out! Sure glad they came to their senses on that one... Z28x 01-07-2005, 01:03 PM Chrome bar on cars = :yuck: Chrome bar on trucks = Trucks look great with the bar in both chrome and body colorded. If you don't like the bar, buy a GMC. '05 Silverado HD and the Colorado SS & Cruz concepts seem to hint at the future of the Chevy grill. Darth Xed 01-07-2005, 01:12 PM Chrome bar on cars = :yuck: Chrome bar on trucks = I gotta agree... I always thought they looked tough on the trucks... just looked out of place and "forced" on the cars. SharpShooter_SS 01-07-2005, 01:39 PM It's just too bad they didn't get around to doing a last minute drop of the chrome bar from the new Malibu - I just hate the front end styling of that car. I could live with the overall blandness of it... but the front end, I just hate. Still, glad to see the bar is on it's way to the ole' scrapheap. redzed 01-07-2005, 05:47 PM What's funny, is both the Impala and Monte look like they were designed with intentions of the chrome bar....but it was dropped at the last minute... Yeah and the current Grand Prix looks like it was designed with intentions of "ribbed" body cladding. So does the new Gr....I mean the G6. ...And the Cobalt shares so many cues with the Cavalier that it makes you wonder if the name change was always in the cards. SFireGT98 01-07-2005, 05:53 PM On the trucks I dont mind, but I'm glad to see Chevy finally getting rid of it on their cars. The new Malibu isnt a bad looking car but that front end is hideous with that huge chrome bar across the front. ...And the Cobalt shares so many cues with the Cavalier that it makes you wonder if the name change was always in the cards. Except the Cobalt actually looks good. Not to mention that performance is there as well. JoeliusZ28 01-07-2005, 06:41 PM two words: BYE NOW! IZ28 01-08-2005, 02:13 AM Whoo Hooo!! | ||
