pics of my slipping clutch...

My clutch was slipping really bad and I was wondering if anyone could pinpoint the cause by looking at these pictures. The engine was leaking oil so that could explain it. The pressure plate had hot spots on it if that helps.

Flywheel looked very good. The setup only had about 7-10k on it before it started slipping and I had the flywheel resurfaced then too so something definetely went wrong. It was a spec stage 2.

Re: pics of my slipping clutch...

well if the rear main was leaking that is probably it, the disc itself looks good i guess, i have a stage III so i'm not sure what the 2 looks like from the factory, was the flywheel dry when you took the clutch out? If it was call up spec and they will help u out, they usally have great customer service.

The rear main wasn't leaking. The dipstick was leaking a bit but like you said, the disk was dry. My uncle is a mechanic and he said he thought the disk was glazed over. Everything was dry. I'm just wondering if the disk just went bad or something.

Yea it may have been glazed over, its hard to tell from the pics. I think your best bet is to just call spec up and tell them that ans see what they can do for you. Usally it takes a lot of sliping and abuse to heat up a clutch enough to glaze it.

What about the pressure plate? Any chance it got overheated somehow. I'm not very familiar with the spec clutches but I know I have smoked many perfectly good clutches just from abuse...slipping too much with too much power before fully engaged. The plate will usually have some blueing if it was overheated.

Re: pics of my slipping clutch...

I said in my first post that the pressure plate had a couple hot spots on it. I dont have that much power over stock and I rarely abused it (only a couple times at the track).
