I like it . Yeah its overall the same car , but it took away all the qwikiness about the current car . I always liked the greenhouse and midsection of the monte carlo , but the front end ruined the car . Looks good , but shoulda been the undate a couple years ago ;)

Chevy is still CLUELESS about wheels with the mainstream cars :confused:

I'm not impressed with that at all. They could have done so much more.

The new front looks a lot more NASCAR. Add that with the V8 and NASCAR fans down south should be all over this.

i hope they don't start doing that to all their cars (take most of the same identifying features and just duplicate them for all mainstream cars)

:eek: I thought 06 was all new for the impala and monte, my mistake and in that case for just a refresh they look good.

I like it a lot!!! It changed what I hated about the old one. Indeed, the new wheels are very Cobalt SS-like, but that isn't a bad thing. I always liked the side detail and hated the front.

Looks good to me...with a V8 and a new interior, I'd buy one.

Better front end for sure--all cleaned up. Wheels look like Cobalt SS. V8 sounds good too :D

Gettin better. Would be a LOT better if it drove the correct set of wheels.

I like it a lot. has a slightly aggressive look to it which is nice. They could have done something to the back but it isnt all that necessary. good job chevy

Pretty much my opinion. They took that "spare tire on the back" look and molded it into the trunk, and it still looks funky.

Better than the current one, tho.

Am I'm the only one so far to like the current Monte??? I own a black one; looks like my next car will be one too!

For a certain segment, Monte Carlo hits a bullseye.

Recently, I was talking to someone, a non-enthusiast, who is in his 50's. He had purchased a Monte Carlo and he told me why. He said, " I've always wanted a Monte Carlo, to me,the car just says class". Initially, I thought that was a sort of silly comment...but you know what, there is a whole niche of people that feel that way.

If you're looking for a large coupe, with high percieved style, FWD and now a V8....Monte Carlo owns that segment.

I think a FWD Monte Carlo makes a perfect stablemate to a smaller, sportier, RWD Camaro.

The reason I heard most for why someone would never buy a Camaro is RWD. The FWD market is big and can't be ingnored. Monte is the perfect compliment to the Camaro. Once the G6 GXP comes out GM will have a nice FWD performance lineup.

You are exactly right, and there is a big whole in GMs line up for that market, since they killed the Riviera and Eldorado. The market has thinned out, but its still there, GM really needs a couple of more large coupes.

You're right. If all you do is read forums like this, you'd get the impression that GM should replace ALL it's cars with RWD, especially Monte Carlo......which would, of course, be a big mistake.

I believe a car like the MC....with it's FWD...has it's place in the Chevy portfolio and is positioned perfectly. If we get a proper Camaro and Monte Carlo remains in production for the foreseeable future....I strongly believe it should remain FWD.

I think the car looks better than it did, the restyle works for me.

Like Darth, I really kinda liked the rear end styling but I was lukewarm to the front end - they just didn't seem to belong on the same car. I know most of the car rags dislike the rearend, but I found that it reminded me of the G-body and the mid 80's SS in particular and I have a soft spot for the 80's SS, since I had one.

While there may be a market for these cars as new and there are a fair amount of new ones on the road around here, they have been pretty slow to move off lots in the "previously owned" market - at least around my neck of the woods.

If you're the sort of person who drinks an entire case of Budweiser on Sunday afternoons while you watch NASCAR, this Monte Carlo will appeal to you. What I see is yet another oversized, pointless "personal luxury coupe." It's the last of it's kind - which in this case might be a good thing. Maybe that should be a hint both to GM and potential MC buyers.

Be careful of what you wish for. Overseas the Chevy Lumina is still sold... as a sister car to the Holden Monaro and Pontiac GTO.

Which leads to the notion that the next gen GTO/Monaro will be on Zeta. Which means the new Zeta Chevy Coupe might be called... Mo.... :eek: I can't even say it. :D

im not saying its anything worse but what they had... but it looks like they took the ugly from the old one and exchanged it for the 'happy ga ga face' look. :blah:

whats the deal with all these new car's that have headlights that appear to be more on the quarter panel than on the front end :confused: :yuck:

i like it, and yea, i can see whereit says class (in an AFFORDABLE way)
and yea, that market is great
if my grandmother (longtime chevy fan and definately a fan of montes- has a 96 right now) was looking for a new car, i'd definately try to interest her in this
the biggest thing she likes about it- the fact it has 2 doors :eek: :D
