4.10 gears & 125 shot too much for 315 tires?

hey guys. i'm about to order my set- up for my car and have a question or two before i order. my current modifications are in my signature...
in addition to my current bolt-on mods, i will be running ZR1 wheels with 315/35/17 tires in the rear (NOT drag radials), Rear lower control arms/panhard rod, and a 100-125 shot of nitrous along w/ all the safety measures like ignition etc (don't want 150 shot b/c of the car's high mileage.)
do you all think that using 4.10 gears will be way too much as far as traction goes? since the car will wind out quick in 1st gear anyway, i don't plan to use nitrous until i hit 2nd gear to help with traction. my car is a '95 6speed with 3.42 gears, and stepping up to only a 3.73 doesn't seem worth the $$ since i'll be on motor most the time anyway.
i had a 150 shot on a basically stock car several years ago, and it spun pretty bad with the half bald stock tires that were on it. i just want the car useable at the drag strip on the juice and not just sitting there spinning.....thanks for the advice guys! BTW: sorry for posting this in the general LT1 tech as well, i figured it might be better suited for the 'N2O forum'.

Yes, you probably won't get a whole lot of traction at launch, or anywhere in 1st gear, and probably most of 2nd with 4:10's. Not to mention 4:10's are weaker than 3:42's or 3:73's. Alsoyou will have to shift so fast with 4:10's and spray that you will be killing your times. If you are going to spray, don't go more than 3:73's unless you are going to get a 9". Just my opinion.

4.10 + spray = SLICKS if you want good times.
tried 315/35x17 NITTO 555R's 2.0 60's were the result.
tires broke loose every shift 1-4
13.06 @ 117.43 is what the slip read

wow 117 mph that's 11 second territory w/ traction :) 13.0....that's a LOT of spinning with drag radials. street tires would be useless.

street tires are a joke for my car.

I had almost the same setup for awhile. 4.10's, NX at 100, 315/35/17 drag radials. Not a good combo on the stock 10 bolt. Like chopstix said, I spun through 1-4. No good ETs. Ended up braking the gears after having them only a year. Spraying for about a month. Went with 3.73 now. Still traction issues, but much better. Not as much fun with just motor launches though. Don't get the 4.10's if you play on using the juice.

If you have the 6 speed get the 4.10 gears, because you are noy going to be spraying the car all the time. 4.10's are a blast for every day driving. Just plan on getting some ET Streets or Drags for when you are going to the track. I am still running the 10 bolt and pulling 1.6 60's.

I spray in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

I have 4.11's with Nitto Drags.

I have no intention of spraying in first until I have some Et Streets.

like i said, i'll be running 315 STREET radials, not drag tire or radials. i think i'll just keep stock gearing for now, and once i put on the nitrous, then decide whether or not to go 4.10's.
also, i live in the smokey mountains, and don't want to have to downshift a lot when going fast through the curves. would the 4.10's be too much for racing on the mountain/curves? too much up/down shifting? thanks!

Spraying a 100 shot on my stock engined LT1 with Nitto DRs, gives me about a second of tire spin when it sprays in 2nd gear, coming on at 3000RPM. 1st gear is useless on the spray.

This is with my M6's stock 3.42:1 gears. I can't imagine 4:11's with 125hp. :o
