i need the list of absolute essentials for this swap. i have the corss member and the torque arm adapter. im going to get the transmission ordered on monday. so far i have compiled the list of:

*th350 w/ 9 inch tail shaft
*converter/flexplate
*torque arm
*trans crossmember w/ new mount
*speed sensor

am i missing anything else that is essential to the swap? all i need it to do is move. a performance shifter, or anything that is not required just to get it to move out of the driveway i dont want to buy.

Im not sure if the driveshaft yoke spline is the same or not. Have you researched that? Drive shaft length?? Speedometer, you dont need to move but it will be an issue eventually. My car still doesnt have a functional speedometer. Other than drive shaft issues, I think you have it covered.... If all you want to do is move it..... Let me know what you run into, im going to take my T-56 out soon and install a 700R4.....

i have done alot of research in the last week and from the archives from here and ls1tech.com i have found about all the info i need and i think that i have everything i need now except the dipstick, but the place im getting the tranny from said they could get one for this application.

-speed sensor (from a 454SS truck, called a pigtail)
-BMR track pack torque arm
-bmr cross member
-subframes (required for torque arms new mounting location)
-shifter
-new driveshaft and yolk, the piece that connects the driveshaft to the tranny.
-dipstick, mine almost dosent fit, so if it sits wayyyyyy far back dont be suprised.

Your going to have to put the transmission in and then measure to see how long the drive shaft needs to be. :) Also keep in mind i did a th400 swap since it stronger, for a 350 im not 100%sure u have to change driveshafts.

I didnt have to swap the driveshaft at all at first on mine,it used the same spline count and pitch as a 4l60e,and with his 9" tail shaft the length will not need to be changed.Moving it without a shifter will be difficult though, also dont forget to have the pcm reflashed to eliminate the trans program.

so modifying the stock shifter is a no go? i have a small machine shop in my garage, we can fabricate/jury rig most anyhthing. i thought it might be possible to make it work, even if the numbers were wrong because of the reverse valve body.

People has modified the stock shifter to work, so it possible. Thats what i wanted to do at first until i saw my friends hurst quarter stick pistol grip and i HAD to get that one. With the stock shifter u can keep the clean stock look instead of cutting a nasty hole in the consol to make a aftermarket fit, but the way im going to do mine is stitch black leather around the hole aroudn the shifter like manual transmissions have and it will look badass. One of my friends does interior and is going to do mine one weekend once i get around to setting something up.

i saw a write up on here that someone had done for a th400 and they had used a quarter stick and fabricated a boot for it out of leather like you're talking about, looked really really nice. i want a b&m hammer in the near future ;)
