Welding axle tubes to housing

Does welding the axle tubes help to beef up the hosing a little? Who here thinks it's worth it or just a waste of time......my rear end is out and i am getting ready to paint it---so know is the time to do it. So what do you think....should i stick weld it or take it somewhere and have them do it.

If you had a leaf spring car it is definetly needed but since our cars have the torque arms in the center you dont get the axle wrap a leaf spring car gets. i say it's a waste of time and $.

I decided not to, i was going to run slicks on it and hoped it lasted for a while, but have decided not to after all.
