Stripped!!

I stripped a wheel stud on the drivers side rear. What would be the best way to fix it? I would prefer not taking off the axle. PLease help!

Take off the axle.

Well, you gotta go get a new stud, take apart your front end, punch out the old one and put in the new one.
That means taking off the caliper, rotor, and anything else that might get in your way.

Taking apart the front end would be extra work (since he said it was in the rear). :D

If you don't have traction control, you should be able to turn the axle to a point where there is room behind the stud to remove/install it (without taking out the axle). You can use a wheel stud remover or carefully hammer it out (you may want to try to somehow support the axle flange from the rear). You can pull in a new stud with some flat washers used as spacers and a lug nut with the flat side turned toward the washers.

Assuming you dont have TCS: Get a BFH, turn the rearend so that when you hit it with the BFH the stud will come out without hitting the backing plate. Then whack away, should take 3 good hits. Then with the new stud and and old nut pull the new one into place, throw old nut away and have a new one to take its place. Might take 30 minutes, more like 15 probably.

I did all 20 in like an hour....

Sucks it is snowing now So I dont want to do anything now...........but I do remember a time I swapped a tranny in the snow..........crazy yes.
