i just got a 9" and am going to be running slicks on it, i make roughly 400rwhp/430tq and can almost guarantee ill be carrying the front tires...but my question is, do i need to worry about a blow out or anything of that nature if i come down too hard? i would only think the front may come up a foot or so, but ive heard of people having things break when they sit their car down. right now its stock springs and shocks

You probably won't get it high enough to have a problem. I've seen a friend's 30th SS convert drop hard from 3-feet several times, and the front tires held up fine. Same can't be said about the oil pan, headers and PA K-member, all of which suffered damage. In all cases, he was running a "front runner" style drag skinny.

The one time he did get in trouble, he was running 205 radials on narrowed (17x6) SS wheels, and the edge of the wheel cut right thru the sidewall of the Pirelli radial, and the car went into the wall.

In his photo, it was maybe 1/2-way back down, and hit hard when it went sideways and he got out of the throttle too fast - buts that a car with 1,125HP:

thanks for the input. bad ass car btw. ive only got maybe 1/3 the power he does, so i doubt ill get the wheels up anywhere near that high. i just know my buddy with a buick roadmaster spraying outta the hole can get them up about a foot or so, and he makes the same power i do, he just runs slicks.

I absolutely love George's car.
Unfortunately, the car is "history" as far as George is concerned, and now belongs to someone in California..
