Question about oil-drainback lines

You know how you have to tap the oil pan for the oil drain from the supercharger? Why don't they just have it go into the valve cover (where you pour oil in anyway) or something? Would it be too much oil to drain away?

Stupid question, but just wondering.

I think the current setup is gravity drain back, so you need to keep the hose outlet lower than the inlet.

As stated above, it's a gravity return system (return line is not pressurized).

And there all ways will be some metal bits that will be wareing off your bearings and races, that would be bad news for your valve train.
Put them in the oil sump where they belong.
