I attended the GM airbag school and the guy told us that when there is an airbag deployment that it is automatically 4,000 dollars they are designed to knock out the front window. But to get to your question your best bet would to be find one at a junkyard and replace im pretty sure that it cannot be put back together.Hope this helps

You need both airbags, a new "panel" for your dash board, and you need the air-bag module.
Expensive stuff man...

When i bought my car wrecked in the front, I paid $1500 shipped for a whole front clip, new complete dash, airbags, and airbag module off Ebay. You need to replace the airbag module which is under the center console in order to get them working again and clear the airbag light off the gauges. Wasn't that hard to rip the old dash out and put the new one in. Just a few bolts here and there.

How do you remove the dash panel. Is it possible to somehow glue the old panel back in place?

2000_zm6 not to hijack your thread but i am kinda doing the same thing.

Camaro 22,
Are you saying that to get the air bags working again and get the light off is to replace the air bag module? Do you have to replace the sensors? Here is my thread that i have. Thanks

Yes you just have to replace the dash, module and bags. Once you do that, your bags will work again and the light will go away. To remove the dash it's just some screws holding it in. Have to take your time and remember where they go. It only took me a few hours to replace with the new dash and bags. The module are year specific, so make sure you get the module for your year. As far as glueing the passenger dash back i don't know. Mine was pretty bent up on the inside from being deployed. If you need anymore help, just let me know.

I do believe you need to remove gauge cluster, radio and h-vac controls. I have tons of pictures when i did it if you need them.

I can't remember where all the screws are. They're all over. Under the dash on top. Yes you have to take out the cluster radio controls switches buttons, glove box. The module is under your center console. You have to remove that to get to it.

Shoot. Why put airbags back in? when mine poped ( driving and the DS broke sending the u joint through the floor and making my bags pop) I decided I didnt want that crap again so I bought a brand new dash from a 99 camaro with gauge cluster, HVAC controls, ducting, console, and cap for 400 shipped! No need for airbags plus saves you a little weight ;)
