Popping / Clunking Noise

Figured I would ask before I start digging into my car tomorrow...
Although I'm not completely sure this is a suspension problem, it's the most likely. Anyway, I'm getting this horrible noise coming from the rear of my car, under certain conditions:

Deceleration
Going over uneven road/large bumps

I also noticed some significant vibration during acceleration as well. During cruising everything seems fairly normal. The car will not make the noise when stopped, although it will make it when I'm just about stopped and the car "settles" at a light or stop sign. Downshifting gears to make the car decelerate seems to make the noise more frequent.

Any ideas/suggestions? Don't know how much longer my car will last like this...

did you install, reinstall, or adjust the springs at all? i had a noise problem when hitting bumps and stopping, it was one of the spring rounds hitting the sway bar, when it let go it "popped". all i had to do was spin the spring for clearance...dont ask, i didnt know they had to be put in any particular way but i guess they do.

just a suggestion,

Sounds like it could be a balljoint. Or maybe a swaybar endlink is broken.

Well, I figured it out.

Stupid torque arm mount in the front worked it's way loose. It was pretty much hanging there, I'm surprised nothing worse came of it, all it cost me was one bolt.

Makes sense, every time the rear got bumped or loaded in the backwards direction it would swing the torque arm up and whack the bottom of the car. If you listen to it outside the car it sounds completely different than inside the car.

Here's more proof that the best way to diagnose a problem is to go out there and get your hands dirty. I'm just glad it's so warm this week. Probably the last time I'll be able to work on my car till the spring. :(
