My k&N filter is practicly dead. too many miles. if i use a regular cone filter from autozone will it affect performance?

i bought a cone filter from autozone and it seperated from the chrome base without me knowing and sucked trash into my engine.

and my k&N magically unconnects itself no matter how tight i clamp that damn hose clamp and i end up driving with the filter on there for few days-
