Mounting Vent Grilles in '96 WS6/Ram Air Hood

I need a little guidance here. First some background: I bought a used '96 OEM Ram Air hood to install on my '95 TA. The guy I bought the hood from had the baffles cut out, and if there were any mounting points for the grilles that fit in the ram air vents, they must have been removed too. He said he didn't use the grilles himself, and did not have them to sell with the hood. I want to restore this hood to more or less stock appearance for my street car, and have bought the GM vent screens from Jason Cromer. BUT, I don't see anything inside the mouth of the vents to hold them.

My questions and request: If anyone with an OEM Ram Air hood would explain how these vent screens mount, and especially, if they would post or send photos of the mounting points. If I have to, I guess I could fab up the mounting points with a fiberglass patch kit if I know what they look like.

Thanks guys (and girls).

They just pop right in, no screws or mounts, there should be 2 clamps on the top and bottom that snap it into place on the hood. I popped mine out to paint them a few years back. Pic below:

Thanks for the reply. I see the tabs on the back of the grilles, but on this hood, there is nothing inside the vent opening to stop the grilles from falling inside the opening. Is there supposed to be a lip of some kind or stops molded into the inside of the opening to keep the grilles from falling inside?

I just created a yahoo album at: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/john_h_hall/my_photos

If I got lucky and did this right you will be able to see the inside of the vent on my hood. A pic is worth a thousand words!

By the way, I like the look of your grilles. What did you paint them with?

It should just be a friction fit for the front of it, although I think I remember a small ridge around the whole opening, so either that is not a OEM hood, or he even removed the ridge for the grilles.

That is what I'm afraid of. He assured me that it is an OEM 96 hood, but the inside of the vents is smooth, with no lip or ridge to retain the grilles.

If anyone could post or send a pic detailing the inside of one of these vents, without the grille installed, it would be a huge help. I think I'm going to have to fab the ridge or lip up and I need to see what the stock setup looks like.

Thanks again to everyone who replied. This board rocks.
