81Z28355 12-22-2004, 12:03 PM The SLP LOUDMOUTH is about your only choice in that price range.
1BADAIR 12-22-2004, 12:37 PM Loudmouth and hooker. I have had them both
rod442 12-22-2004, 01:05 PM if you are keeping the cats, get the loudmouth. I have one on my car and love it. (it was on before the turbo's too) sounded great. plus its stainless.
if you are dumping the cats, get the same one and have a diff resonator welded in. OR the hooker sounds nice and makes good power too.
Kevyn 12-22-2004, 03:00 PM Loudmouth if you want to be obnoxious. The Hooker is cheap and effective but not stainless. The Magnaflow sounds good and is stainless for about 430.
I have seen a couple used Borla systems recently for around 400.
I am running the Hooker setup right now but if I had it to do over again, I think I would go with a Magnaflow.
robvas 12-22-2004, 04:43 PM Dynomax, you can swap the Superturbo out for an Ultraflow if you want it to be really loud.
ATR is pretty nice sounding, Magnaflow is $389. SLP has the two-on-the-left, which I've always liked.
RandomTech/Hooker are pretty cheap, there's always Flowmaster. The Loudmouth is nice if you keep your cats like Rod442 said.
Or, you could just remove the exhaust at the cat and drive it around like that. Or get a cutout.
You could also get some really cheap headers and stock bullets on the end of them :)
OneSickSix 12-22-2004, 07:03 PM Buy a used SLP Loudmouth and slap a dynomax bullet on there! :D
94_Z28_ragtop 12-22-2004, 07:34 PM I have an SLP dual/dual on my LS1 and I think it sounds great. Noticibly loud at WOT but not irritating when cruising. It's not raspy like the Loudmouth and it is stainless steel.
Bob-o 12-22-2004, 08:08 PM I just got a hooker cat back for my 95 new from advance auto for $259. I would think they also have them for a 98. It sounds great, fits great and I have no regrets.
Bill'sWS6 12-23-2004, 11:56 AM Hey Rick,
The system I had on my 98WS6 was the Flowmaster American Thunder. I know people knock it for the no real gain in power but I had TONS of people saying how nice it sounded.
So, what are you up to these days?
Take Care,
Bill
ws6transam 12-24-2004, 09:08 PM I will only consider the Hooker Aerochamber cat-back after hearing about the dyno results at Thunder Racing. They have done some research on exhaust system effectiveness and had the best luck with Hooker Aerochamber mufflers and a Mufflex pipe. Unfortunately you can't just order Mufflex pipe. BUT, you can order the Hooker Cat-back.

exactly. The hooker areochamber is one of if not the best flowing mufflers (not resonators) out there. Will sound good with any manifold/cat combo. Probably the quietest out of all aftermarket catbacks but does have a nice mellow sound. Plus you can drop the muffler/tips in 2 minutes and have an over the axle dump.
BISHOP 12-25-2004, 04:12 PM ATR is a good choice like mentioned above. Sounds great N/A, bottle fed, and blown.
