1FASASZ 12-20-2004, 11:35 PM i figured this would me the place to ask this question since most of you probably live there. i live in reno right now and im thinking of moving to texas. whats a nice place in texas were all the f bodys are and it is reletively cheap to buy a house. i was looking in san antonio at some houses and there rediculusly cheap compared to reno. how do you guys like san antonio?
95GRNZ 12-21-2004, 08:28 AM You might want to be a bit more specific as to what you are going to do here, work wise, that is, etc. There are plenty of F-bodies all around the state, so in that sense it doesn't matter where you go.
No matter where you decide to relocate, houses will be quite inexpensive compared to many other states.

1965GP 12-21-2004, 08:36 AM True, there are more F bods here than anywhere I have ever lived. I've lived in San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and Huntsville, TX.
Austin is a cool party town, but after you've done 6the street a few times, you it's like any other place witha good nightlife. Oh, and I hear traffic is really suckin' there!
San Antonio is pretty cool. big Military town, from what I remember a pretty active street race scene.
I live in west Houston now and I love it. More hot cars here than anywhere else I've ever lived. I just bought a house in Katy, TX (west Houston) and it's working out great. Good nightlife, lots of performance shops, big track (Houston raceway Park) but traffic sucks!!!
1FASASZ 12-21-2004, 06:15 PM im a journyman plumber. i do new residetial plumbing. does any body know the pay rate there in houston for the construction trades, electrical, hvac, framing. usually those trades pretty close in pay. i make $18 hr here and hoping to get the same there.
dmoor88 12-21-2004, 06:22 PM check out Houston, DFW, Austin or San Antonio. stay AWAY from Waco!

i hate san antonio. i've lived here for all my life (albeit i'm only 19). and the street racing scene is pretty much dead.
97Z-M6 12-21-2004, 11:19 PM i have to say that waco is not a bad place i wouldnt live in but i would live on the outside of it. lots of schools to choose from. i do plant ops at a hospital and i swear there are more plumbers and ac companys in waco than any where in the world. and TRANE AC/HVAC has a huge place of in dallas. and i have conections there if you need a interview, for a job. since i spend several hundred thousand daloors with them a year.
i also have good conections with a plumbing company in waco that does my service work and new install. and i think most of the guys there who are licsend plumbers make 20 or so and hour. thats doing comercail and residentail. and they have more work than they can handle.
but waco is centrly located you and hour and 20 min from dallas and 20 from temple and probably and hour and 20 from austin. and about 1/1/2 hours from bryan.
i was born and raised in conroe tx near houston and i hate houston and i hat dallas and i hate austin. i like to be able to have access to those places but not have to stay there.
dmoor88 12-21-2004, 11:28 PM i didnt know you were born and raised in conroe man. my folks arent 25 minutes from there...
Donohue96M6Z28 12-22-2004, 12:29 AM i think austin is in a good location, i live in SA, but austin is in the middle of everything, you can drive to the ocean, Mexico, southpadre, dallas, college station, houston, everywhere, everything is in a reasonalbe distance and seems like a city that likes to have a good time->ive had a few fun nights in austin and love goin there :)

cool 20 bucks an hour thats pretty good. my grampa lived in corpus chrysty, hes a master plumber hes been plumbing for over 40 years and he was only making like 12 bucks an hour. so i wont be moving there.
do you have any phone numbers to plumbing companys around there? that would help me out cause i want to call one of them and get some info on how the pay is.
waco sounds cool, im gonna check it out
dmoor88 12-22-2004, 01:00 PM much of waco is quite ghetto. take his advise and find a nice place on the outskirts. one of the only nice areas in Waco is near Lake Waco, but aside from that, its not the best place to live. trust me, ive lived there for half a decade
Robert95z 12-22-2004, 02:27 PM Houston isnt a bad place but Id rather live in Austin.

what do you suggest? i kinda want a place thats in the middle of the cities like auston dallas and huston if thats possible.
dmoor88 12-22-2004, 08:26 PM temple isnt a bad city.
1FASASZ 12-22-2004, 09:19 PM DFW = Dallas and Fort Worth area. I live a hour away and love it.
fort worth looks pretty nice. whats the weather like there? is there any scenary?
dmoor88 12-22-2004, 09:44 PM heh people telling you about each city is nice, but I wouldnt base your choice on where you're gonna live just on what we say. your best bet would be to fly/drive out here and have a look around for yourself
:D
viperkiller 12-23-2004, 12:01 PM i live about 30 or 40 mins south of waco, its a pretty cool town. like vince said i would prefer to live in the country as opposed to any city. but waco has a small town feel to it with the benifit of the 24 hour stores ect...
waco also has some really nice surrounding communities, some border the city, some are out a few miles but i would live there.
if you decide to move the tx let me know, i should have my realty license in feb. so i could help you find a house, and possible get that whapping 1.5% commission. i can work anywhere in the state so i may be able to help you in these other areas also.

what are some of the names of the city's your talking about? i need to live close to the big cities so i can get a good paying job
1965GP 12-23-2004, 07:46 PM You probably need to decide if you want small town, big city or something in between. Both have their advantages. I like Houston, but ultimately I would like to live in Spring or Conroe (about 20 min north of Houston). If you like boats or wakeboarding Conroe is the place to be. Your still within commuting distance, but don't have to live with all the hassles of the city.
Just like everyone else, I thohght austin was the coolest town on earth. It has prety much everything. After living in Houston for a couple years I've found they have a lot of the same stuff (live music, mountain bike trails, etc) but it's not advertised like it is in Austin, I had to live here for a couple of years before I learned where everything was. in austin you can live there a week and know where to go for what.
viperkiller 12-24-2004, 12:24 AM well, i guess it depends on how far you want to drive to get into work.
1FASASZ 12-24-2004, 05:22 AM well, i guess it depends on how far you want to drive to get into work.
30 to 45 minuites
viperkiller 12-24-2004, 05:40 PM if your thinking waco then i would suggest get a tx map find waco, then look west to mcgregor and crowford, north to about hillsboro south to around temple, east to mexia or groesbeck. that will be about a 45 min to an hour circle around waco. most all our driving around here is open hwy so you really dont have any traffic.
but like doug said the temple, killeen area isnt to bad either, then you also have bryan/college station. these are all smaller cities, i'm not too familiar with the larger cities. i live about 45 mins south of waco so i know more about that area. actually the marlin area(really has nothing to offer but location) is 30 mins to an hour from waco temple and bryan.
