Baer Track Kit vs. LS1 brake upgrade

I've searched around a bit, but was hoping to get some opinions on my next upgrade. I will be getting new tires next week so I can finally begin using the 17" ZR1's that I picked up a few months back.

With the new wheels, I should be able to clear larger rotors, so my question is which way should I go. I've heard that the stopping power of the LS1 set up is actuall better than the Baers due to greater swept area. Is there any advantage to having the larger diameter, but thinner rotor of the Baer kit? I would most likely go with new rotors on the LS1 set up, so the cost differential may not be as big as it could be if I were going bare bones.

Thanks.

I still think it comes down to a cost factor for you. If you've got money to burn, buy the Baer kit.

Certainly no money to burn, if that were the case, I'd do the entire car LS1 conversion ;)

If you're thinking about doing the Baer brakes do the C5 upgrade instead. It's more cost effective as well. New rotors and pads will run you about $140, but will cost you like $300 or so with the baer kit. I have the LS1 upgrade right now, but I think I'll move to the C5 setup this summer.

Since there are no new Bob Bishop brackets coming out, what's the best way to do the C5 swap? I thought that I read about LG motorsports making brackets, but that I would need LS1 knuckles anyway. That's still definitely another option if the parts are out there.

I believe there are a couple guys that are making the C5 brackets for fbodies. Just do a search, you should find them that way.
