Weird sound from rear when cornering hard.....

If I take a corner real fast, there is a sound from the rear almost like the sound the front air dam makes when it hits something, like a part scraping or something like that. Anybody else have this problem?

I think I may need new shocks, because the car sags a bit to the right.

Also, when going over railroad tracks and such, something on the front sounds like it is scraping the ground. My car knowledge is very limited so I need some help. I was told it was the front air pickup, but have a hard time believing that since the air dam would hit first.

Any advice is welcome guys, I appreciate it.

The sound from the rear is most likely the tire rubbing the inner fender well.

Mine use to do the same thing. The sound is gone now after replacing the springs & shocks with 1LEs and lower control arms with BRM tubular. I'm not sure which of those components was causing it though?

The front, I'm not too sure.

BTW: Shocks will not cause the car to sag when i't sitting still. If your car is sagging, it's most likely springs, not shocks. And if you do have spring issues, that could cause the tire to rub like that.

First of all, thanks a lot for your help.

Will new stock replacement shocks and springs help the problem? I really don't have the cash to get Bilsteins/1LE shocks

Any new springs/shocks will help the problem. You can get the 1LE springs, shocks, and front swaybar from http://www.gyrhead.com for under $200 shipped. The front springs you get from this guy are not the true 1LEs, but they are stiffer than the stock. This is the kit I installed. The improvement in handling is nice, it's nothing extreme, but the car rides much smoother and handles a lot better now. Plus, no more tire rubbing when cornering hard.

If you're on a tight budget, I'd recommend going this route. The shocks aren't the bilsteins, but they are better than the stock Z28 shocks. Really though, anything new will help your issue.

Do they make the car lower?

That sounds like a hell of deal dude, I'm gonna go for it.

Thanks a lot

No, they do not make the car any lower. The car will actually site a little higher (.5"-1.5") after installation. I like the car sitting higher with these springs. The front air dam doesn't rub nearly as much as it did before the install. Some people complain about the ride height of the 1LE springs, but it doesn't bother me.

Wow, I would think 1LE springs would lower the car, but oh well.

Got any pics of your car with them on?
