I'm in college and liked to be looked at, will this get the job done?
Now I already did a search and came up with nothing, and I checked ls1sounds.com and they didn't have anything from what I could see. Heres the deal, I just bought some Flow Tech headers and I wanna do a 3in true dual system dumped at the axle. The thing is, I want this to be LOUD. I have a ford explorer for an everyday driver. The camaro saw 1400mi this past year so I am not worried about it being to loud. I was thinking of setting up the true dual system without any bullet mufflers or anything. Anybody running this kind of set up or heard one? I'm curious as to how it sounds. All the true duals on ls1sounds.com running bullets don't sound very loud to me. Thanks for all the help guys!

Wouldn't installing a cut-out be cheaper, easier, and louder?
If "loud" is all you want, that's probably the best bet (and it gains you power at the same time
). Get an electric one and have volume control at the flip of a switch!

Straight pipes all the way back won't sound that great. Do like Capn Pete said and get a pair of cutouts and have some mufflers. I love my single chamber 10 series Flowmasters on my A4 SS, and its loud as everything with 2.5" pipe. When you do your system be sure to put an x-pipe in it. Another good sounding LOUD muffler is chambered Sweet Thunder. Bullet mufflers are a little too deep for me and they drone worse than the sweet thunder or flowmasters. Check out Z28Venom's sig on ls1tech, http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/member.php?u=17439, for a clip of his set up, and you can look on my website www.clemson.edu/~jaander for a clip of my car. Hope this helps.

throw a couple resonators or glass packs on your pipes, that'll liven it up a bit. Straight pipes sound like poop in my opinion, you have to have something on there to at least "smooth" out the sound. If you want loud, these two items will amplify for you, and smooth it out a bit without "muffling" it, like a muffler (duh) would do.

little to none, but you will drive your o2 sensors nuts, they read all the outside air and translate it as an extremely lean condition, it will throw on your ses light

Please don't take this the wrong way but why exactly do you want to be that loud? Would'nt you be more concerned about it making more power and sounding good instead of it just being loud? Also remember in your quest for attention, you probably also get the cop's.
Re: I'm in college and liked to be looked at, will this get the job done?
i had a flowmaster dual setup on my '84 and it sounded like crap cause they did camaro-like turn down tips on it.... a friend w/ a stock '88 2.8 w/ the same exhaust only w/ straight tips off the muffle sounded better!!!... so i put a cutout on the I-pipe and it now sounds awesome!!!
do electric cutouts, i hear of them failing all the time but man, revving at a ricer w/ the caps on, waiting a second, flip ur switch and rev it again and scare the **** out of 'em.... LMAO seen it in person and its hilarious!!!

the sound clips do no justice to most exhaust sounds.
just do the duals with bullets. it sounds rediculously loud but still refined enough that it sounds good.

If your motor is stock, meaning no cam no head work, open headers will kill your backpressure. Get longtubes, gut the cat, and throw on a race muffler, Borla XR1 (sounds great) or the Dynomax bullet. It will sound 10 times better with either one of those and will make more power probably then open headers.

I really think the best way to be loud and i think everyone will agree would be to throw away all the exhaust yes headers and everything! anyone have a video of the ricer who hasnt heard of electric cutouts and wets his pants. I can just hear him "DAng dawg i didnt know camaro's got a phat vtec in em!"
