Another transmission GONE!!! After 4k Miles!!! :PISSED:

This is ridiculous!!! Not but 3-4k miles ago, the previous owner of the car (good buddy of mine) had the gears 3 and 4 gone (clutch packs?) and not soon after (maybe 10-15 miles), 2nd gear was gone and then he limped it across town doing about 20mph with 1st gear pegging out trying to get it to this "reputable shop". It was in there for about a week and a half, and me and Brent (the owner, my buddy) went to go pick it up. This was.... back in march, april maybe? Anyways, we went to pick it up and the guy had us there for about an hour and a half showing us all the parts that he took out of it, the fluid that came out of it (dirty reddish-brown with metal parts in it), and explained everything he did. He seemed to be a pretty knowledgeable guy and knew what he was doing. He explained to me and Brent the 3 year/36k mile warranty for the car, and said to take it back to him when it hit 10k miles after rebuild so he could change the fluid and filter.

Well, the car changed ownership in august and hasnt been driven much since then. Going down the road, the car "slipped" out of gear, and the revs went to the wall. It comes outta 2nd at about 25mph, like its trying to get 3rd and just slips. This was the first time I washed the car today in 2 months, because it was a nice day. Now it sits in a Sheetz parking lot till tomorrow morning when me and my dad have it towed back to the house so we can trailer it back to the burg and drop it off at the rebuilder's residence (also his shop). Sorry for the complaining... this is just B.S. Too much f'in hassle for me right now, I've got other **** to worry about than some POS losing a transmission after 4k miles.

~Jon It pains me to say but... I still love my fbody

If that dude screws you over on the waranty, then take it to Frank he isn't too far from you! And Franks stuff is Proven!

When My trans started going I decided to get it done right the first time, so I didn't have to deal with these headaches. Not trying to **** you off more, just letting others out there know that there are a few good 700/4l60e builders out there, and they shouln't think taking it to a reputable shop means anything in these cars!

When I was at Franks shop I saw a trans that was rebuilt 3 times in the last year by a "reputable place" and the guy finally listened and sent it to Frank. When Frank tore it down, I saw that the other shop put crappy less then optimal parts in it, like the single caged sprag that is known to roll there elements, the reputable place still used the less then par factory replacement not to mention how it just looked sloppy and tore up even though it was behind a stock LT1 for the last 3-4K miles

CPT fixed it up real good for that guy, not sure if he comes on here, or if he does what his screenname is though!
