Hey guys I am thinking about putting an LT1 in my 56 belair. I want to eventually put a 6 speed in the car, but that will probably come at a later date. Right now I have a super T-10 4 speed in the car with a lakewood bellhouing. it should bolt right up, correct? Would i still be able to use the same flywheel i have on my 350 now or will I have to go with a LT1 flywheel? Let me know what I need for this to work.
This is off the subject but will 400-420 rwhp have a chance at getting my 3500lbs belair into the 11's? I will have stick tires and it has a ladder bar setup and a 12 bolt with 4.10's.
thanks

Yes the Lakewood bellhousing will bolt up to the LT1. The LT1 has the same bolt pattern as a SBC back there. Only difference is that the top bolt hole is missing on a LT1.
The LT1 has a externally balanced flywheel so that's needed to work with the motor. Unless you go into the motor and neutrally balance the motor.
400-420rwhp should get that puppy into the 11's if you can cut a good short time.

You cannot use the LT1 flywheel. It is designed for a pull type clutch.
Buy a flywheel for a late 80's - early 90's Chevy truck or similar year 3rd gen Camaro. This is the same style as the current flywheel that you have, but has the 1pc rear seal bolt pattern. They are available in multiple clutch diameters so you can use your existing setup.
