Hypertech
Hypertech
Im going to be changing my gears from 2.73 to 3.42 soon so I will need to reprogram for the difference. I was thinking about getting a Hypertech power programmer to recal but are there any other real gains from it. My car is stock but I plan on getting a lid and cooler stat also. Thanks
Re: Hypertech
Are you a auto or 6 speed? You also can change the shifts. I'd go w/ the preditor instead of the hyp. I have the preditor and love it, I haven't got to the track yet, but I can feel a big diff. Also, on the preditor you can scan codes and erase them, you cant w/ the hyper. I have heard bad things on here about the hyper, not about the preditor. Hope that helps some.
Re: Hypertech
I had the hypertech, and I had to have my car reflashed back to stock because it somehow messed up my computer/program
. I would go with the above advice. I like the scan part. However I'm going to get the hptunner program there are many things you can do with including scanning .

Re: Hypertech
The Predator is a good tool for someone that doesn't want to tune it himself.
Predators allow for e-mail tune upgrades too. I'm running the numbers in my sig with a Predator custom e-mail tune from my dealer/tuner.

Re: Hypertech
I have a Hypertech, and it works perfect for adjusting shift points, firmness, gear ratio, tire size and rev limiter, but I do NOT recommend it for its "power tuning" option.
When I first got my Hypertech, I ran with the power tuning installed, and felt a SOTP difference, but I immediately had to start running 94 octane gas (instead of ~89 normally) to stop the pinging it created
. Not until I had my car dyno'd did I realize that even running 94, it STILL pinged really bad above ~5000 RPM!
On the dyno it did make more power with the programming installed, but at the cost of causing excessive detonation, so I've removed the "power program" and just use the gear re-cal, and the shift point mods

Re: Hypertech
Thanks for the advice. My car is an auto so I will be able to play with the shifts.Right now Im leaning toward the Predator but I also saw a tuner by Motorvation called the excellerator. Has anyone heard of it.
