i have an opportunity to pick up a 305tbi car that is in great shape minus trans/motor setup. everything else is there though as far as cpu, harness, etc just not the actual mechanics.
how hard would it be to retro fit a v6 of the same year? what major things would i need to change as far as would the harness, cpu fit? what else?

motor mounts for sure
fuel line to motor, pressure might be different?

beyond the suspension aspects i'm mainly concerned with the electrical as in the cpu and what's different with the harness, etc.

I don't want to question your motives, but why a v6?

Look around on tgo, it will be the same as a TBI > TPI swap as far as electronics / wiring go inside the car for the speedometer wiring difference, the tbi computer is different than the V6/TPI one, and of course the entire wiring harness under the hood is different, and you'll need a tpi fuel pump.

ok so i need a tpi harness then, computer, pump, etc.? that's enough to not even make the saw worthwhile if you don't have a good harness around.
i'll have to see what i have... thanks.

You need the V6 engine harness, you need to make the same changes to the inside harness as the guys that go from TBI to TPI for the speedometer, as the v6 and tpi inside wiring harness is the same. Yes you need a high pressure pump.
