That front end looks great. You can see some Holden cues in it.

Isn't that the Vauxhall VXR Lightning, they couldn't legally street register it in the UK under their laws so they badged it a saturn and selling it in the states... it a fast little car that looks good.

The only thing I said is that it's embargoed. I know where it came from.

No...the little badge in the grill looks like a Saturn symbol...
I dont think Kappa has yet to be approved for sale in Europe due to the hight of the hood over the engine due to pedestrian crash standards....yeah, I said WTF too.

Looks like exactly what I thought it would. I saw the rear of it in the saturn 05 brochure. Remember I showed off the car 1st. j/k

Great  GM should worry about more important things, like styling in their good car lines and saving some of them, rather than an unneeded saturn chick roadster.

For some reason I think that it looks like a C6  ....

Those lights and the hood look the same, the bumper looks like some type of ricer bodykit on a C6....

...Maybe its just me.. :)

This is awesome! Thanks for the little sneak preview.

I am highly anticipating this at the Houston Auto Show this... April. Could this be... just as cool as, or perhaps COOLER THAN, the Solstice?!

:D

I removed the pic for three reasons-

#1-The article is clearly marked as embargoed (the 11/29 release date)

#2- The picture is not hot linked to autoweek, someone on the forums was hosting it

#3- The article is not anywhere on Autoweek/Autonews meaning someone found it in a non-public area. I do not wanna be involved in that situation. Plus someone in the thread went on bragging about how he somehow has advance access to autoweek and gm media stuff and was the one who found the pic hidden. I don't want both them and GM harassing us over something that will be public in a few days. Plus it's hypocitical to cry "we didn't know it was embargoed" like with the z06...then turn around and post this, which was clearly marked for a later release date.

#1-How polite you are! GM should have given you a 2004 GTP for FREE.

#2-I can see where they don't want much publicity for a Solstice-clone with a dorky, un-cool and low-buck Saturn nameplate.

#3-GM should maintain the "embargo" on the Saturn Sky until at least 18-24 months after the product introduction. Going by Saturn's record for producing interesting:lol:, exciting:lol:, innovative:lol:, and well finished:lol: products for performance:lol: enthusiasts:lol:....

...I am confident that an "out of sight, out of mind" marketing effort is the way to go for all future Saturn products.

Well Redzed I am not suprised you don't like it but lets get real. Saturn has a great customer service rating, probably the only reason it is still around. GM is commited into turning Saturn into the VW of GM, so small cars with high quality interiors, most of their stuff will be rebadged Opels or Opel based cars.

As for your point #2, hey it is your opinion on the looks of the Sky but the VX Lightning concept is one of the BEST recieved in all automotive circles period. The car is well styled and flashy like a person ordering a convertible wants it to be. If you don't like the subdued Solstice and don't like the sharply styled Sky then what do you want?

Hate to tell you, but pics of the Saturn Sky are all over the net on automotive sites.

Do a google search. Embargo? Yeah.

Those pictures are of the concept, arnt they? The one that was posted above looked quite a bit different.

Those are the concept of a few years ago. This new SKY is different, and is the production SKY.

This looks like the start of a crappy trend. This was/is the place to get good info before the whole world gets it. Now posting a link to a site that floated pics a couple of days early gets taken down? Lame. GM has their way I guess, enthusiasts will never get hyped about their cars again! Smart thinking!

11-26-2004, 07:33 PM
Yeah, nobody used to cry about another site linking to a pic a few days early. Now if somebody does it seems other site owners are gonna call them out on it now. Kind of like I got to see it but none of you need to.

Since the embargo on the pics ended yesterday morning, and it seems everyone here is either too shell-shocked to post any pictures, or had their brass ones replaced with silicone, here's the picture of the new Saturn Sky:

Agreed. I think they might just have a winner there.

Geoff Chadwick
11-30-2004, 12:04 PM
I agree. I think the solstice isnt good looking - but a little baby saturn C6 might do the brand good. And if it's cheaper then the Pontiac (I thought Saturn's turn up-scale was still a father ways off) it might do very well.

If they can make a little 4 banger convertible saturn for like $18,000 (granted that's a bit much for saturns current image) but you have a hard time finding a roadster NEW for less then $20k in the states. Even the Miata is $22k base now!

Any chance for a coupe version? A coupe for $18,000 would be a cool commuter car.

It is therefore in my best interest to purchase one for her. :D

Go to your nearest Saturn Dealership and get a copy of the '05 brochure. Look on the page that has the designers and talks about design. The car is in the background and pictures of the interior are on the wall of a cubicle. I sent a pic to Josh on C&G a while ago but my scanner sucks. Go get a free brochure and take a look for yourself. :D

bwahahaha!
I dont know what looks better...the agressive face of the Sky, or the sexy cuves of the Solstice. It would be cool if GM had the Sky as a hard top vert so it could be a little different then the Solstice.
