Does anyone know FOR SURE if a 4th gen fuel tank would fit right into a 3rd gen or not? I don't have the ability to have two sitting in front of me to compare. I know a lot of stuff in interchangeable but i'm curious as to if the whole tank is a simply swap or not. Thanks.

It won't fit without modification. I have one in mine. It looked the same until I got it in. The fuel filler neck was sticking out of the car about an inch. LOL I forgot the 4th gens are a bit wider. You can't offset it enough to get it to fit either. I had to pull it back out and cut about a 1"(maybe 1.5") section out of the neck and reweld it.

Another problem is the fuel pump assy. The 3rd gen won't fit in the 4th gen tank and vice versa. I am running a complete 4th gen fuel system. Tank, pump assy., and lines.

that can be solved by going to a Plastic LS1 tank, the filler neck is made up of a rubber hose and filler neck, so you can cut to preference.

I have it in my car and works, only issue is the straps, Im using stock 3rdgen and they needed "help" to hold the tank, when I get a chance ill be trying other straps. the charcoal canister onto of the plastic tank I believe is the problem.

ok, thanks guys. My problem is my tank was out of a carb car and was modified so the FI set up would work. Only i'm now having fuel issues and want to totally redo my fuel system starting with the tank. I'll probably just try to find a TPI tank or something. Thanks

Could you explain what you mean by "help"? Were they too short, or too long? How is the charcoal cannister a problem? Does it bang into something? Where did you do the cutting on the fuel filler neck? Does it disassemble?
