89TransAmWS6 11-21-2004, 11:15 PM yes please check into that..i have a 93 firebird but im sure its the same as a 96..?
thanks :D
atljar 11-22-2004, 12:15 AM Looked on the website, but dont see more details? Can you post a direct link? Any issues running these in any housing that accepts the 9005/9006 bulbs?
tbyrne 11-22-2004, 10:09 AM The HID section is right off of the main page. Just scroll down the left hand column and you will see a link to that section. They can be used in any housing that accepts the 9005 and 9006 bulbs. Other kits are available if needed.
I'll check on those Firebird kits today.
atljar 11-22-2004, 12:16 PM thanks, i am blind :)
jakef2003 11-22-2004, 04:27 PM I too, would be interested in an LT1 bird setup.
89TransAmWS6 11-23-2004, 03:29 PM Any luck?
tbyrne 11-23-2004, 04:06 PM Nothing yet.
captain_foustas 11-29-2004, 02:36 AM im also interested in a firebird setup
tbyrne 11-29-2004, 08:14 AM There has been alot of interest in the Firebird HIDs so I'll be continueing to work on this. I might have a lead on the housings.
Highlander 12-05-2004, 03:54 PM OK OK.. big question!!!!
do i have to buy 2 kits in order to have highs and lows????????
tbyrne 12-05-2004, 04:19 PM I'm working on seeing if we can have kits made for the LT1 Camaro along with the Firebirds. The LS1 Camaro will need 2 kits - 9006 for the low beam and 9005 for the high.
Ryan94ZA4 12-05-2004, 04:29 PM IF you want to run HID's in your 93-7 Firebird, I would go with an aftermarket GLASS housing for an H4. Then, you can get an H4 HID setup and go with either the single beam (you will have no highs) or the dual beam setup (you'll have high beam but the cost about the same as 2 single beam systems.)
I have a low beam HID kit on my 94 Z with the 98-02 front end and also put a set in my wife's 94 Vert. All you have to do is take a heat gun and heat the stock housing up at the bulb then use a prying tool to slowly release the bulb from the housing. Then, I ground off the locking tabs from the HID bulb so it was the same diameter as the neck of the factory housing. Leave the O ring on the HID bulb to keep things seal and also to help hold the bulb where it needs to be. I then used epoxy (you could use silicone but I dont' know how long it would hold) to permanently put the bulb in place. Pay attention when you epoxy the bulb in as most of the wires come out at a 90 degree angle. If you put it in wrong, you have to cut your headlight mounting panel so everything fits well. I mounted my ballasts and starters behind the radiator support so if I get in a wreck they will hopefully be safe.
I can supply some pics if anyone wants to see.

Highlander 12-05-2004, 04:36 PM Does the LT1 still need 2 kits?
Ryan94ZA4 12-05-2004, 04:39 PM IF you want true HID's in both your low and high beams, yes. I just have low beams in both of my cars and used the dimmer switch for a 93-97 Camaro as it lights both the lows and highs on high beam. If I ever get the extra money, I will buy high beams....
Ryan
Highlander 12-05-2004, 05:06 PM i knew it was too cheap to be true :(
I guess i'll buy low beams first since its the ones you use the most...
what else did you do to make the high beams light up with the low beams?
Ryan94ZA4 12-05-2004, 07:36 PM If you have a 93-97 Camaro, it already is set up to light all the lights on high beam. If you have a 98-up Camaro or a Firebird or TA, you can just upgrade to the 93-97 Camaro dimmer switch.
Ryan
Highlander 12-05-2004, 09:45 PM My camaro shuts down the low when using high...
Ryan94ZA4 12-05-2004, 11:06 PM If you are talking about the car in your sig, it is the incorrect dimmer switch for your car. I'd go get another one and make sure to get it for the 93-97 car.
Highlander 12-06-2004, 12:12 AM factory dimmer switch ;) i have it since new... i'll check it out anyways....
89TransAmWS6 12-22-2004, 05:06 PM Anything new about the hid lights for lt1 powered trans ams? Or any leads on where to get glass h4 housings?
tbyrne 12-23-2004, 09:49 AM Nothing yet. We probably get the most requests from TA users and wish they can be supplied.
captain_foustas 12-23-2004, 03:32 PM so nothin yet or nothing period?
Myxtreme1 12-24-2004, 08:44 PM <~~~Here's another interested TA person.
MysticTeal 95 V6 12-24-2004, 09:45 PM I think a HID upgrade on the LS1 T/A's would look pretty sweet :D
Myxtreme1 12-25-2004, 12:03 AM Yep...and a complete front end upgrade for the lt1 TA's, lol.
Ryan94ZA4 12-25-2004, 01:18 AM Hella sells a glass housing for the 93-7 Firebird/TA. You will then have to buy either a single beam H4 HID kit (no high beams....) or a dual beam H4 HID kit (high beam and low beam but double the price)
I would do this to my TA but I don't plan on keeping it. I have HID's in my white Z and the wife's vert; one is an old 4th gen front and the other is a new 4th gen front. Definitely a good upgrade if you do a lot of night time driving.

Link to said Glass housings please ?
airos4 12-30-2004, 07:14 PM I'd be interested in a set for the lowbeams on my 97 Camaro Z28... I know you said you were looking into it, so just add me to the interested list.
96SilverRam 12-31-2004, 02:57 PM Correct me if I'm wrong but, if you have a hella glass housing that excepts H4's then why not do the Bi-Xenon H4 hid kit. I thought most of these kits sell for $350 to 599 depending on where you buy.
PediDr2 12-31-2004, 03:57 PM Link to said Glass housings please ?
