shady54 11-21-2004, 02:34 PM I've been looking around for new wheels to put on my 3rd gen and don't really like the idea of the big spacers needed to put 4th gen wheels on. What wheels does everyone think look good on a 3rd gen with out having to put on big spacers?
kandied91z 11-22-2004, 02:40 AM spacers are used for short gaps...adapters are what you would use. try looking at wheels here...

just to name a few.... budget determins all. cast steel is cheapest with forged one piece billet then 2 piece and 3 piece being the most costly.
any 2 or 3 piece wheel can be built to your own specification for your project. very few cast and one piece wheels available for our cars though.
shady54 11-22-2004, 11:16 PM holy crap!! thanks thatll be my nightly reading for a while.
kandied91z 11-22-2004, 11:56 PM do some research and come back with some choices and educated questions. at which point i can give you references as well as links of where to shop, whom to talk to and what b.s/offset you might want depending on wheel width and overall dia.
good luck.
:)
shady54 11-23-2004, 09:54 PM Well i was mostly looking at ZR1s, Z06s, C5 wheels, or torque thrusts. but if I do any of these ill have to get adapters. not as bad as i first thought they would be. i also thought it would be easy to get a 4.75 to 4.5 adapter and get some gun metal torque thrusts from a mustang,(they would be cheaper) which also have a crome lip. now the mustang bulitts are 29mm offset for the 17"x8".
now my question is what would i have to do besides the adapter from 4.75 to 4.5 to fit these? would i have to do a spacer too?
kandied91z 11-24-2004, 01:55 AM no you purchase an adapter cut to fit.
http://www.skulte.com/catalog.html
personally for the price you'll pay in the end just get something from boyd in a similar design as his billet wheels are just as cheap when it's all added up. having adapters i'd much rather save a few months and spend another 2-300 to have direct bolt wheels in the exact size and width i want with proper offsets.
street demon2k3 11-24-2004, 02:17 AM sorry to get off topic, but what is the bolt pattern/back spacing for a third gen. camaro. i have some TT2's that my manager wants but i dont know if they fit. i have them on my 93 trans am, 16x8's BTW. thanks for any help
shady54 11-25-2004, 03:05 AM the bolt pattern is4.75. the tricky part is the offset the rears are 56mm and the front is 26?mm. not exactly sure.if anyone can fix any mistakes would be nice.
yea i think you are right thought about spending the extra to have direct bolt ons.
SunCoastTA 11-25-2004, 12:26 PM Hawks usually has some good deals.
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/camaro_wheels
There's a 3rd gen Camaro with evo's on this page that look sick.
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/inc/pdetail?v=1&pid=10371
kandied91z 11-26-2004, 12:07 AM so that is the offset of the wheels you bought? the 56mm is in range for a 2" adapter and even smaller for the 26
factory is 0 up front and +16 in the rear for a z28. so you were to bolt the 56 you definately wouldn't want to go larger then 2" as 1.75 might even work and much smaller then 2" for the front.
use the link i posted, it will tell you what to run, i've never heard of a vette wheel even for a 4thgen having such a low offset as 26mm.
shady54 11-26-2004, 05:54 PM yea i don't know where i got the 26 mm from
but this is what it says on the other page ...
Name Size Offset Backspacing
Camaro 82-92 16x8 front 0mm 4.35"
Camaro 89-92 16x8 rear 16mm 5"
Now if i went larger than 16" say 17".. the offset would still be the same right?
axoid 11-27-2004, 06:21 AM A 17X9.5" wheel needs 5.5" of backspacing, plus a 1/4" spacer on the front for stock front brakes. No spacer is needed if 1LE front brakes have been installed.

so... what kind of wheels are you 3rd gen guys running. and pictures would be cool too.
shady54 12-15-2004, 10:36 PM ok well here's the deal now. my dad just got snow tires put on his stok TL wheels. so now i have a set of wheels that will fit an 17x8 wheel, that he said i could use. now what 17x8" wheels are out there for 3rd gens?
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/inc/pdetail?v=1&pid=13964
hyper black ZR-1s would be sweet. and sized to fit already.
kandied91z 12-16-2004, 02:32 AM did you not look at any of the links i posted....?
there's easily 50+ wheel designs right there in any size and width you could want for any vehicle, let alone a thirdgen and that's without really searching.
shady54 12-16-2004, 04:05 PM YES, i did look through your links and i thanks you but...
either i didn't like them or they were way out of my price range. i have an expensive taste, though i also like simple. thats y i like the ZR1s.
JSkeet 12-16-2004, 04:51 PM i dont know if already mentioned but SLP is making ZR1 wheels that will bolt right up on 3rd gens... they get pricey, and I dont think they are offering black yet (i want black ZR1's!!)...
kandied91z 12-17-2004, 04:44 AM if $200 a rim is too expensive for custom fit wheels then let us know what you are expecting to pay. you might be better off looking for a used set then as any of those links had custom wheels in billet for almost the same price as the zr1 3rdgen bolt style.
too each their own, good luck.

I thought 600 for a set plus shipping is pretty good. but like i said. i either didn't LIKE them or they were too pricey. i pretty sure im going with the ZR1s. at www.slponline.com they are 599 plus shipping.
