I have a lifter making a ton of noise so I lashed it down tighter to see if it would go away. No dice. Makes noise both hot & cold. So, I yanked the lifter and it looks ok -Visually that is. What's the proper procedure for checking the hydraulics of the lifter.
Thanks
Steve

I had a similar issue with my Comp R's and while I never found an official test, I tried this and it may or may not help you.
I just pushed on the rocker directly above the pushrod to see if I could compress the lifter. When my motor was cold, it wouldn't compress at all. But when the motor was warm, it took almost no effort to completely compress the lifter. Bad juju there.

I did it by calling Comp Cams and getting a return Auth Number for my [R's]. Just tell um you need them Inspected and Rebuilt if needed.
I recieved a nice new set a week later at N/C :)
