They're poor quality, had two that were no good from the factory and bent two more on potholes.

8" rims suck.

i have em and love them....i have 275/40/17 nitto 555's on the rears dont let anyone talk you out of a 8 inch rim....nothing wrong with them at all...you can get all the tire you want on them....

i use the 077's for the street and then have 8inch pro stars for the track on a 10.5 slick

I had problems with funky tire wear after shoehorning a 275 onto an 8" 077. Changed to 255s and the tire wear problems went away, so did traction.

A 275 on a 8" rim does not have as wide a contact patch as a 275 on a 9" rim. They tend to bulge out at the sidewall too (goofy looking).

There are reasons that most tire manufacturers recommend 245s for 8" rims.

Moral of the story-> wider is always better :metal:

I wish I hadn't cheaped out and bought the eagles, would have been cheaper in the long run to have bought something quality (wide!) from the start.

actually tire manufactuers recommend a nothing larger than a 255 if its a 35 series tire on a 18 inch rim...you can use bigger tires if the aspect ratio is differant...also as the rim size gets smaller you can go wider....as for the tires balloning out ?i have no idea what your talking about.i have seen them baloon on a 295 tire ...i have 275s now nitto drag extreem 555s and they wear perfectly....and hook like a mofo hitting a 1.7 60foot

and they have about 12k miles on them...tread is down to the wear bars now and still worn perfectly....and my tires dont looked balloned at all....now cant speak for sizes larger ...but my tires look good on those wheels....

they look really crappy

The ballooning (not an entirely accurate description for the look) I spoke of is caused by the tire itself being noticably wider than the rim. I was running 17" rims, more sidewall may have made it stand out more.

Hell, you CAN run a 275 on a 8" rim. Does it look good? No. Is it recommended by the tire manufacturer? No. Does it work? Yes, but not as well as a 275 on a larger rim. Why would you do it? Because you bought 8" wheels and don't have a choice.

I actually had a hard time finding a tire shop that would even mount 275s on a 8" rim.The sidewall of a tire is designed to be run pependicular to the rim, when you force a larger tire onto a small rim you alter the angle of the sidewall (quite a bit in the case of a 275 on a 8" rim), it effects handling and can actually cause the tire to be prone to dismounting itself from the rim.Regardless of whether a tire's a 35 or 45 sidewall, tire width should be matched to the rims width to get the best performance from your tire.

Really I'm not pulling this stuff out of my ass, do a search, there is lots of information on the cons of putting wide tires on narrow rims.

It's cool that it's working for you (two caveats though: nitto tires tend to be narrower than other tire brands of the same size rating and you're running a drag radial with a more pliable sidewall).

If you were shopping for rims, you would honestly buy 8" again ?

Personally I would never go smaller than 9.5", even on the front.

In case I haven't managed to convince anyone, I still have a set of 17x8 077s in the garage for sale :D .

Im regretting buying 18x9's. I want to run wider tires than 285's! I cant see some one wanting to run 245-255's on the back of a sports car :(

i didnt buy the 8 inch rims they were on the car when i got it....but would i buy them again?yup sure would...bought a set of 15x8 prostars yesterday with a set of 26x10.5x15 et streets....

now if i was buying rims and a radial...no your right i would prolly go with a 10 inch and run a 295 or 305....

but i can send pics of my car with the 275 nittos and it sits good and looks good....
if he doesnt have alot of power and wants a cheap good looking wheel then i dont see anything wrong with the 077s

and i got a set for sale too.....lol

oh and for the front i would never go bigger than the 3 1/2" rims i put on it yesterday....but mine doesnt see hardly any highway driving either

I've had no problems with my 077's either. I'm running a 255/45/17 and it looks about right. 245 is the stock section width on the LT1's anyway.

I'm thinking about going with Z06's just for a change.

I've seen them on ebay for as little as $379. I bought mine 3 years ago and I paid around $600. I had about $1100 in them after tires/mounting/balancing.

I had some for my car for 2 yrs, sold them back to another fbody friend who I got them from.

Honestly, I couldn't tell any thing weird running 275 on a 8 inch rim. I had 285's on them puppies, it worked fine. Now I got 17x9.5 and 285's and can't really tell it handles better.

But thats my story...
