Need buying advice

I've been out of the Camaro world for a couple of years since I sold my 71 SS and my Hendrick SS. Well I've settled into my new house and got the debt paid off, so the search is on again.

I've always wanted a late 70's Z28, and I found a 79 Z28 with auto, a/c, 350, 3.42 posi rear, original paint and interior, under 80K miles. The paint is faded and blistering in quarters a little, but that doesn't scare me.

The car has the original build sheet and seems real solid. Is there anything in particular I need to look for in this car? I can get it for a little under 3K, so I'm ready to buy.

Thanks in advance,

Brian03

Other than checking for rusted out things like, floor pans,
under carriages and body parts, I think youd be OK. Run compression tests on the cylinders would help too, plus looking for contaminates in the oil and radiator.
Normal wear form TIME can be expected from rubber hoses and fittings.
I remember an old trick long ago, where we would hold some paper over the tail pipe and see if it would try to be sucked up, indicating an issue with the valve train.
