DMH cutout in winter?

I just got a DMH cutout :cool:

Does anyone have any reccomendations on whether or not I should use this in the winter time (snow, salt, spray, etc.)? I'm prepared to leave the electric motor and valve plate off the car for the winter, if neccessary, and use the bolt-on cap instead. I'm just concerned if the odd bit of winter driving could damage/corrode the electric unit, etc.
