Angry My cars pissing me off...

Alright well ill be cruising on the interstate and ill have the cruise control set and whenever i hit the brakes the car speeds up!?!?!!?! Why the hell does it speed up? Ill hit it one time and it will jump and speed up and then ill have to hit it several times or just slam on brakes for it to slow down. Anyone know what the problem is here?

If I were to guess i would say that the cruise control brake sensor is malfunctioning or disconnected. If that is the case, whenever your putting the brakes on, it thinks the car is hitting a hill, or heavy winds, or something else and tries to maintain speed. I can't remember if there is a dedicated cruise control brake switch or not... but I think there is.

I agree with Jonota, though I'm also unsure whether there's a dedicated sensor or not. Seriously though, it's always much more pleasant to be pissed off than to be pissed on.

By applying the brakes and with the sensor not working, your likely lightly activating the brakes causing friction, meaning the car will try and speed the engine up to maintain cruise. Get that sensor fixed, no idea where it is though

Um, yeah...

anyway, the sensor is located on the brake pedal shaft, it should unscrew out of the shaft and be able to be unplugged and replaced quite easily.
