i've rebuilt a handfull of TH-350's when i had my old camaro, is there any transmission ppl in here that could compare the 4L60E to the th-350 in terms of difficulty to rebuild? my 95 camaro is havin transmission problems, i'm considering rebuilding it myself but i'm curious as to how much tougher this is compared to the th-350 and if its even worth trying

LOL...I've taught women to build 350's. All of our "rookies" at the transmission shop always started out building 350's. I built 116 of them in a row before I was allowed to build anything else!
For comparisons sake...You can screw up alot in a 350, and it'll still work. A 60E is nowhere near as forgiving. It takes alot of "hidden knowlege" to build a 60E correctly, and make it last. That's all you need to do to a 350 is throw a B&M shift kit and a good set of clutches in it, and you're set. 60E's require alot more thought and experience. Do you know what a pump slide spring is, or why you need to change it? Do you know what load release springs are, or why you should throw them away? Do you know the difference between a doudle cage and a single cage input sprag? Do you know what proper band apply pin clearance is? Do you know that a Trans-Go shift kit will burn your 2-4 band and your 3-4 clutches up?...These are just examples of what it takes.

To be a little more blunt...It's a difference of night and day...LOL

I was in a similar boat, 350's seam easy and after watching Frank go through my 4l60e and explain everything. I realized it would have been fooling myself if I thought I would have done it right! Sure, I could have probably gone in and change the clutches and steels, and as long as I remembered where every little clip, spring, screw went (there are 2 different length screws that hold on valvebody, and putting them in the wrong place will lock/damage the trans). But, to just pull it apart and and put it back together, while just replacing worn parts, I think that could be done. But, it won't be done right! It would probably hold up for a while, but not taking advantage of the performance advantages while in there wouldn't be smart. Like Frank mentioned above there a sertain springs, and little things in there that if changed or taken out completely would make a world of difference.

I rebuilt a stock 700 for my 90 (same thing just no electronics). Well needless to say it lasted all of about 2 months before I broke the case. Then I paid for a friend to do the rebuild on another one to handle more....too bad I had to sell that car....
