are all 700r4's equal

I need to get my 700r4 rebuilt, i cant really afford the downtime. are all years of the 700r4 created equal or should i look for a certain one? i have a 93 btw. thanks -dave

I have heard that 90 and up models are better to build, well that`s what the guys at bowtie overdrives told me.

There are a lot of variations. I don't know enough about them to tell you what would work and what wouldn't. It should only take a day to rebuild it. Or, you can just use yours as a "core" and get a reman. Maybe $7-800 or a bit more (without a converter).

If yours is a true 1993 with a 5 pin plug on the side, then you will need to use your transmission as the one to build from, if not a 1988 & up will do as a start.
