 My 1-2 shift is around 5300 but my 2-3 shift is around 4200. I'd like to change the governor weights/springs to raise the 2-3 shift point. Since access to the governor with the trans in the car is a pain I'd like to do it once rather than experment with a weight kit. Is there an aftermarket governor available that I could install to do this without having to fool around with changing the weights? I did find one trans shop that advertises a Corvette governor with 5200 shift points, is this any different from the one in the Camaro's?

I've had mine out several times playing with it. Its not so bad to take out.. just undo the tranny crossmemeber and let the transmission hang down.
Unfortunately your going to have to do a little playing. A corvette govenor would probally be a good spot to start though.

I've got a stock Camaro 3:23 governor in mine with one slightly lighter spring. My shift points were 5600-5700 at WOT with my 4.10's. I'd love to tell you what they are now, but I can't recall ever racing the car without shifting it manually at 6200 RPM's.
What gears do you have in the car? Where are you located in PA.?

I'm near Pittsburgh, car has 3.23 rear, after I built the motor the trans wants to slide into the 2 - 3 shift when I hold it manually so I've just been leaving it in 3rd and letting it shift itself. It shifts firmly but early in auto mode. I'd like to try a different governor and see what happens. I believe the TV cable is properly adjusted and the trans is otherwise in good condition. [60K highway miles.] I did install a B & M shift kit several years ago. Thanks.
