My car has developed a metal popping like sound when I am at low speeds and braking or taking off slowly. I just would like to know where to start first.

Thanks.

I have been listening a lot closer and I believe I have it narrowed down to the rear definately, 75% driver side.

Worn-- shock, LCA bushings, end link bushings... Possible sticking caliper.. Loose bolt/nut... Check the U-joint also..Just in case...

Worse case-- Limited slip(aka: Posi) going out.. Mine make a popping/grinding sound when it went out... But it made the sound most prominate when backing up and turning at the same time, slowly.....

May be the torque arm mount. Mine is bad and you can hear it clank if you tap the gas to make the car lurch a bit, it also clanks when I back out of the driveway.
I just put a new Energy Suspension mount on the car this evening, but didn't drive the car yet.

I found the problem.

I noticed my driver rear tire was running low, so I took it up to Discount tire, and they found 2 nails in the tire. They repaired it for free and guess what....no more sounds.
